Job Description
Collegiate Hotel Group® is seeking a Maintenance Technician to join Graduate New Haven Hoteland its brilliant team of hospitality enthusiasts.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Performs general maintenance in guest units, building, back of house, common areas, exterior of building and grounds.
- Will have a working knowledge of the use of hand tools and power tools, as well as for installing, repairing, troubleshooting carpentry, plumbing, electric, HVAC, refrigeration, kitchen equipment, and IT equipment.
- Repairs and installs appliances as needed with minimal supervision.
- Performs maintenance on plumbing such as pipes, drains, faucets, disposals, showers, tubs, etc. on interior and exterior of building.
- Rearranges and installs furniture throughout building as needed.
- Repair drywall, wallpaper and millwork around property on interior and exterior of building.
- Prepares and Paints multiple types of surfaces throughout interior and exterior of building.
- Prevents and troubleshoots electrical issues on equipment, fixtures, outlets and switches.
- Inspects and performs preventative maintenance in guestroom units, public areas, back of house and grounds.
- Reports, responds to, and repairs safety issues in guest units, building, common areas, and equipment in interior and exterior of building.
- Completes all daily assignments in a safe and timely manner.
- Patrol exterior of the building during daily rounds.
- Complete utility and equipment readings and maintain records.
- Prioritizes work orders against daily assignments, keeping in constant contact with the department and / or the front desk and guests to update jobs completed.
- Maintains the appearance of the property by picking trash and debris, responding and mopping up spills, cleaning interior and exterior fixtures, etc.
- Removes snow and debris from exterior of building including sidewalks, drains, entrances
and emergency exits of building.
- Monitor maintenance management system and respond to guest requests within fifteen minutes.
- Adherence to the attendance policy and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Minimum of High School education, post-high school education preferred
- Minimum of 2 years in a Maintenance position, preferably within hotels
- Preferred but not necessary : Two (2) years of college or trade school equivalent in a mechanical, electrical, and / or technical disciplines
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Basic math skills
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
- Ability to exceed expectations of guests and team members
- Excellent time management skills
- Detail oriented; strives for excellence in all assignments
