Description

SUMMARY :

Processes accounts receivable and collects past due accounts with emphasis on accuracy, timeliness, and maintaining positive customer relations.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

Confer with customers by telephone to confirm receipt of invoice, confirm payment date information, or to determine reason for overdue payments.

Record information about the financial status of the customer and status of collection efforts.

  • Process cash receipts.
  • Maintain current database of customers.
  • Perform credit checks for new customers.
  • Maintain accurate and complete files for tax exemption documentation.
  • Review Letters of Credit for accuracy and process related payments.
  • Process / review sales tax returns for several states.
  • Assist with Accounts Payable as needed.
  • Work with Human Resources with third party insurance billing for employees.
  • Prepare routine management reports such as accounts receivable collections update, aging analysis, and other accounts receivable activity reports.

Prepare ad hoc reports as requested.

  • Provide assistance on month-end, quarter-end and annual closes.
  • Assist in compiling and preparing financial summaries for management, the annual audit, and outside sources.
  • Assist with other finance / administrative support duties as assigned.

Requirements

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :

  • High school graduate or equivalent; some college is preferred.
  • Three to five years related experience.
  • Manufacturing Industry, or Construction Industry experience, a must.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES :

  • Ability to analyze and reconcile detailed information.
  • Ability to communicate effectively interdepartmentally and externally with PayChex and Federal and State payroll related offices.
  • Working knowledge of Windows XP, Windows-based software (Word, Excel).
  • Accurate data entry and 10-key skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT and PHYSICAL DEMANDS :

  • The normal work environment is typical of a business office.
  • The incumbent is routinely required to sit, stand, walk, touch, see, and hear.
