Purpose : Our high school after-school educational programs are seeking talented leaders ready to lead programs and program staff, and inspire students between 9th and 12th grade as an After School Program Site Coordinator.
In this role, our After School Program Site Coordinator supports a team of after school tutors and enrichment instructors, to nurture the full potential of every student to help them reach their best outcomes.
Position Summary : The After School Program Site Coordinator leads a team of After School Program Leaders to provide academic, enrichment and physical recreation programs to students attending the YMCA's After School Programs.
The YMCA's High School After School Programs are located on public high school campuses - we serve students right at school.
The After School Program Site Coordinator works directly with 9th-12th grade students, the staff team and the school administration to create engaging, interesting, educational and fun programs and activities for students.
The After School Program Site Coordinator mentors staff team members and students, and will ensure a safe, caring after school program environment for all students that encourages creativity, expression and social emotional learning.
- Job Type : Part-Time
- Pay : $20.00-$21.00 / per hour.
- Expected Hours : 20-25 hours per week during the school year (additional hours may be available during school breaks)
- Expected Shifts : After school hours, between 1 : 30pm-6 : 30pm, Monday-Friday
- Work Location : In person; Los Angeles, CA (32nd Street USC Magnet School)
What you'll do :
- Lead, engage and support high school students in 9th-12th grade and a staff team in various educational and recreational activities, including but not limited to tutoring, academic homework support, enrichment, physical activities, recreation, clubs, sports, etc.
- Create a robust program for high school students, engaging over 120 students, daily.
- Foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere for all participants.
- Collaborate with staff team members to plan and execute engaging programs. Provide direct supervision of staff team.
- Build strong relationships with children, parents, and the school community.
What we're looking for :
- Must be 21 years-old or older and a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Passion for working with high school students in an educational setting.
- Experience supervising adults.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Ability to create a safe and welcoming environment for all.
- Eagerness to contribute to a diverse and inclusive community.
- Availability on school days; approximately 20-25 hours per week. Additional hours may be available during school breaks when the YMCA is operating school break programs (such as summer enrichment or summer school support).
In addition to regular work shift, there are trainings, special events and professional development sessions that take place during the year. All trainings are paid.
This position requires the final candidate to successfully pass an E-Verify check.
To ease the onboarding experience, hired candidates will be provided access to complete a mandatory TB Test clearance, at no cost, prior to their first scheduled shift.
The YMCA also provides all new hires with access to paid CPR / First Aid certification training, at no cost, to be completed within 60 days of hire.
