Growth Orthopedics is hiring a full-time Senior Clinical Manager (RN) in Portland, Maine.

Growth Orthopedics is a managed service organization, supported by Trivest Partners, a private equity firm that partners with independent orthopedics offices while ensuring their individual autonomy.

The Senior Clinical Manager (RN) will be responsible for managing all operational aspects of clinical services including workflow, staffing, and financial performance for the Clinic and ASC to provide the most efficient, effective, safe, and comprehensive patient care, and to achieve business and organizational objectives.

The Sr. Clinical Manager should foster a collaborative environment working closely with management and physician leadership on strategic planning and continuous quality improvement.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Clinic Supervisors, PAT RN’s, Joint Replacement Navigator RN, ASC Medical Assistants, APP’s, ASC Manager

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

1. Directs and coordinates patient care services; assesses, plans, implement and evaluates all aspects of care

2. Provides clinical leadership and oversight of staff; implements, supervises, and maintains clinical practice and quality management standards in the Clinic and ASC

3. Demonstrates appropriate delegation and coordination of tasks and duties in the clinic and ASC according to relevant job descriptions and individual skills

4. Establishes expectations and models behaviors that demonstrate service excellence to staff and sets an example of high standards of patient care

5. Assesses and determines staffing levels based on patient care needs, patient flow, and other clinical needs to ensure optimal clinical operations

6. Works collaboratively with physicians and staff to promote quality customer service and patient satisfaction

7. Provides guidance on complex clinical situations in a calm and confident manner

8. Demonstrates effective leadership skills through effective communication and interpersonal skills. Meets regularly to discuss issues and problem solving as issues arise.

9. Delegates appropriate responsibility and authority to staff according to relevant job descriptions and individual capabilities and skills

10. Assists staff in adapting to change and creates a positive work environment

11. Ensures all clinical services comply with policies and regulatory requirements, implementing policies and protocols, and leads safety and quality initiatives

12. Interviews and recommends hiring of qualified candidates, ensures complete orientation / onboarding into position for new staff

13. Administers effective employee performance management through continuous coaching and development. Provides timely and consistent performance feedback to include annual performance evaluations.

14. Provides support and guidance as a resource for ASC Supervisors

15. Addresses issues of non-performance effectively, leveraging assistance from Human Resources as needed

16. Establishes and maintains effective and appropriate lines of communication, authority, and accountability for clinical operations

17. Works collaboratively and builds productive relationships with divisional management, including executive and physician leadership, as well as corporate central services staff (e.

g., human resources, IT, finance, quality, etc.)

18. Develops and maintains an open and effective line of communication with providers and staff; encourages teamwork and works collaboratively across the organization

19. Recommends operating and capital budgets and monitors allocation of resources, planning for budgets, cost control and staffing

20. Reduces the risk of infection in patients, employees, and visitors by providing a safe environment

21. Maintains accurate, timely, and complete documentation

22. Maintains confidentiality

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Attendance and participation in practice meetings during, before and after hours as required
  • In collaboration with Supervisors, develops, plans, regularly schedules, and attends Clinic and ASC Department meetings
  • Provides continuous program assessment and performance improvement monitoring
  • Completes special projects or activities as assigned by Practice Director
  • Interprets and applies organizational policies and procedures in compliance with the organization
  • Ensures that time, attendance, and paid-time-off records are properly tracked and reported
  • Demonstrates professionalism at all times, and promotes a positive work environment
  • Maintains required licensure and participates in ongoing personal and professional growth and development and education
  • Keeps abreast of current issues involving patient care or practice issues
  • Supports business initiatives and strategies
  • Leads injury and incident inquiries and evaluations in collaboration with Supervisors
  • Performs other duties necessary to maintain the overall efficiency and continuity of the clinic
  • Displays cooperative behavior and interacts positively and effectively with others to promote a team environment
  • Is proactive in identifying, reporting, and participating in the resolution of any potential safety issues
  • Support and promotes the Company’s mission, vision, and values

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Completion of RN degree from an accredited school of nursing, BSN desired
  • Active State of Maine Nursing license or eligible for licensure

3+ years nursing and previous leadership experience

ASC experience in either a RN or leadership position

  • Current BLS required
  • Knowledge of budgets and financial strategies
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative, insight, and judgment in all decision-making processes
  • Knowledge of risk management, HIPPA, patient safety
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills necessary for interacting with patients, physicians, supervisors, and staff
  • Highly organized and able to prioritize and manage time effectively with the ability to handle stress in a fast-paced and changing environment
  • Ability to demonstrate compassion and caring in dealing with others
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to project and maintain a professional image
  • Ability to work independently and excel as part of a team
  • Ability to lead teams effectively through change
  • Ability to act as a culture champion and create followership
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Proficient computer skills and knowledge of electronic medical records

PHYSICAL DEMANDS / WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • Daily use of computer operating instruments; stationary PC, Laptop PC, keyboard, and mouse
  • Light lifting of paperwork, folders or other general record keeping materials
  • Operation of various office equipment : fax machine, telephone & voice mail system, e-mail system, scanner, and copier
  • Lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally, and / or up to 10 pounds frequently
  • Walks frequently
  • May be required to sit or stand for extended periods of time
  • Risk of exposure to hazardous conditions and blood borne pathogens
  • Occasional reaching, twisting, bending
