The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O) employs a workforce of approximately 2,700 staff, represented by 15 collective negotiations agreements, and is responsible for institutional strategic initiatives and operations, which encompasses an expansive range of comprehensive service and business operations across the State of New Jersey.

These include planning and construction, facilities, public safety and emergency operations, environmental health and safety, transportation, housing, and auxiliary / retail operations.

Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Project Manager for the The Division of Institutional Planning & Operations (IP&O).

Under the guidance of the Department Head / Director, the Project Manager coordinates, develops, designs and budgets renovation projects throughout the University.

Among the key duties of this position are the following :

  • Interfaces with a dynamic team of University technical staff including project management, maintenance, safety, controls, commissioning and utilities groups to ensure that projects are implemented properly from conception through final acceptance.
  • Runs anywhere from 5 - 15 projects in various stages of Design and Construction with minimal supervision from the Director.
  • Ensures projects are in compliance with applicable construction codes as well as state and federal laws and university standards.
  • Needs to be highly motivated, organized and persistent with follow up to keep project on schedule and under budget.
  • Responsible for millions of dollars of design / construction work per year.

Position Status Full Time Hours Per Week Daily Work Shift Work Arrangement

Consistent with the current application of Rutgers Policy 60.3.22 or the applicable provisions of relevant collective negotiations agreements, this position requires a fully on-site work arrangement and may be eligible for a compressed workweek or a flex workday schedule.

Flexible work arrangements are not permanent, are subject to change or discontinuation, and contingent on the employee receiving approval in the FlexWork@RU Application System.

FLSA Exempt Grade 07 Position Salary Annual Minimum Salary 86471.000 Annual Mid Range Salary 107785.000 Annual Maximum Salary 129099.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
  • A minimum of five years of experience in the industry as a project manager, architect or engineer.

Certifications / Licenses

A valid driver's license would be required for this position in order to travel for business demands.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to coordinate and execute multiple, simultaneous projects, anticipating project needs. and maintaining effective communication with all involved parties throughout the process.
  • Must possess strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be familiar with the design and construction process.

Preferred Qualifications

A New Jersey Architecture or Engineer license
