The Raritan Bay Area YMCA is currently accepting applications for Childcare Afterschool Program Counselors . This is a part-time on-site role.
The Childcare Afterschool Program Counselor will be responsible for supervising and implementing programs for school aged children, ensuring that all activities are safe, age-appropriate, and engaging.
Childcare Afterschool Program Counselors are expected to contribute to a positive and nurturing environment that promotes the social-emotional, cognitive, and physical development of children.
Take advantage of this part-time opportunity for high energy after school staff needed all throughout our community. Experience with working with children preferred.
Responsibilities (include, but are not limited to) :
- Conduct and maintain daily attendance records.
- Ensure safety and supervision to a group of up to15 children.
- Ensure that activities are planned and followed for the children.
- Communicate with parents / guardians in a professional and courteous manner.
- Assist children with their homework on a daily basis.
- Enforce safety rules and ensure practices are followed as they relate to children and staff.

Requirements
- Experience in education, childcare, or a related field
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work collaboratively and prioritize tasks effectively
- Ability to work with diverse populations and to adapt teaching styles to meet the needs of individual children
- First Aid and CPR certification required (or ability to obtain within first 30 days of hire)
- Ability to pass a background check
