Engineering Manager

An Engineering Manager uses their industry knowledge to oversee a variety of activities. They may coordinate and direct building activities related to maintenance, testing, quality assurance, operations and production at a manufacturing site.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree required in an Engineering Degree
  • 5-10 years of relevant work experience.
  • 5-10 years experience as an Engineering Manager
  • Analytical skills for evaluating information carefully and solving complex problems.
  • Communication skills for overseeing staff and working with other management personnel. They need to be able to effectively communicate instructions while leading the team to meet their goals.
  • Detail-oriented for understanding complex systems and the ability to pay attention to details, as a minor error can result in major problems.
  • Math skills, including calculus and other advanced mathematics for developing new processes and products.
  • Organizational skills for keeping track of various budgets, employees and schedules simultaneously.

Responsibilities :

  • Developing detailed plans for new designs and products
  • Making determinations for equipment, staff and training needs
  • Proposing project and program budgets
  • Hiring and supervising staff
  • Leading research and development projects that produce new designs, products and processes.
  • Checking their teams work for technical accuracy
  • Ensuring the validity of methods used by staff
  • Coordinating work with other managers and staff

Physical Demands & Work Environment

  • Work is performed in an office setting.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, sit, demonstrate dexterity.
  • May occasionally be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 25 lbs.) during the course of the workday.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English.
