As a senior economist, conducts and guides economic research projects, analyses, or programs with great impact and significance to the agency.

These analyses are concerned with new initiatives and innovations in economic analysis, theory, concepts, and analytic techniques and methods development as applied to a particular area of economic activity.

Conducts research and policy analysis that requires the application of a wide range of econometric modeling, statistical analysis, risk-cost analytical procedures, and input-output analysis.

Locates and explores research in relation to the program or critical problem, takes responsibility for formulating and carrying out research plans, and assumes technical responsibility for the interpretation and application of findings.

Applies professional knowledge of economics as it applies to research into economic phenomena, analysis of economic data, and the preparation of interpretive reports.

Provides advice and consultation on economic matters to governmental officials and private organizations or citizens. Formulates, conducts, and guides economic research projects, analyses, or programs and conducts integrated studies related to economic problems, functions and principles.

Serves as an agency representative and senior consultant to agency and departmental officials, the private sector, other federal government leadership, state and local agencies, Congressional interests, and other stakeholders on a wide range of economic issues, policies, and concerns.

Reviews work of lower-graded economists and ensures compliance with current policy guidance, technical regulations and overall quality.

Prepares and delivers formal and informal briefings and presentations on the area(s) of expertise in meetings, conventions, inter-agency task forces, etc.

Clearly communicates and explains complex technical principles and analyses to stakeholders, customers, and other appropriate audiences.

Prepares memos and documentation about the data trends and productivity measures, which originate from Department, other Agencies, or the private sector.

Presents research results in comprehensive reports, tables, and charts. Develops and presents budget recommendations to support agency plans and objectives.

Provides innovative recommendations for system improvements that advance program operations and goals. Accesses computer databases for analytical and / or computational purposes and provides special calculations utilizing either routine or specialized computer programs.

Manages project teams that engage in the economic analysis of major planning or program and policy issues. Leads the planning and decision-making processes involved in system requirements development, acceptance testing, and implementation of system changes.
