Orlando Psychiatric Associates (OPA) is a private practice with various locations in Central Florida (Orlando, Ocoee, Kissimmee, Lake Mary, and Lakeland) with an immediate opening for a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).

We are looking for an excellent Provider with at least 1 year of experience to join our team and willing to work in the Orlando office.

The individual ultimately hired for this position will be responsible for evaluating patients and achieving medication management.

OPA is a busy psychiatric practice offering mental health care including counseling and medication management to children (as young as 4), adolescents, and adults.

The practice is 100% outpatient based. Primary importance is given to the care of patients as well as their families. We are looking for an individual with strong clinical, communication, and organizational skills.

This will be a full-time salaried position with benefits and 401K; the reimbursement package is negotiable. Mon-Fri schedule;

no weekends, no night calls. Salary is based on experience. The location that the PMHNP will be hired for is Orlando, FL.

Spanish / English Bilingual is preferred.

Responsibilities :

  • Diagnose and treat mental health disorders
  • Prescribe all necessary medications and achieve personalized treatment plans
  • Perform comprehensive psychiatric evaluations
  • Complete progress notes daily
  • Facilitate referrals to other healthcare professionals
  • Communicate with collaborating Therapist or Specialist regarding patient care

Qualifications :

  • Previous experience in psychiatric field
  • Ability to build rapport with patients
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced office
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong computer skills (EHR, Telehealth)

  • Applicant must have a friendly personality, pleasant attitude, and present excellent communication skills (including adequate tone of voice, professional body language, respectful demeanor, assertive eye contact, welcoming greeting and engaging skills).
  • Applicant must be polished and have a professional appearance and demeanor.
  • A high level of patience and compassion is required towards the patients we serve. This includes the ability to problem solve and help verbally de-escalate those in need.
  • Empathy, caring, and resiliency are key factors to be successful in this role.

  • The ability to perceive / manage / express one's emotions, and to recognize and react appropriately to the emotions of others (patients, peers, upper management).
  • Being self-aware, self-confident, and open-minded. Having a thick skin that allows him / her to value and receive critical feedback.
  • Willingness to go above and beyond his or her job description to make patients happy.
  • Reliable and willing to work at the Orlando office (this is not remote work).
  • The ideal candidate is responsible for own duties and is also a team player by being thoughtful and considerate of all colleagues, team members, and Management.
