Job Summary and Qualifications

Seasonal Program Requirements Seasonal PRN Status with a Full-Time Schedule Program Runs 8 / 25 / 24-4 / 5 / 25

  • All seasonal RNs are required to work a minimum of 72 hours per pay period during the seasonal period
  • Within a close geography, you may be asked to float to another facility that has an emergent staffing need
  • Four (4) weekend shifts are required each 4 week schedule period
  • During the course of the 32-week period, the employee is required to work two (2) holiday shifts (defined by Department Manager or designee)
  • Seasonal Staff are PRN status employees and are subject to first call-off. There are no guaranteed hours by the hospital
  • Seasonal Staff will not be eligible for benefits, except 401(k) and retirement contribution per the PRN policy
  • Seasonal Staff will

be eligible for extra shift bonuses

Registered Nurses who are in the Seasonal program will have one opportunity to pass the clinical competency evaluation

Current FT / PT & PRN Level 3 employees are not eligible

to join the Seasonal program for 2024-2025 with the exception of RNs that participated in the Seasonal program in the previous year

Current employees of HWS are

not eligible

for the seasonal program

Our Progressive Care Registered Nurses raise the bar by providing clinical expertise and the highest quality care, in the most compassionate way.

Our 35-bed ICU Stepdown unit provides healing to general intermediate care patients needing a higher level of skilled nursing care than on a Medical Surgical floor, but do not need an intensive level of care in the ICU.

Our patient population includes post sheath removal, stroke, spine, peritoneal dialysis, cardiac drips and much more receiving care from our highly skilled RNs.

What You Will Do In This Role :

  • Assess patient condition during admission and during each shift, identifying and reporting any changes in patient status.
  • Perform procedures or other functions as ordered by the medical provider.
  • Document the administration of care in the patient medical record in a timely and thorough manner.
  • Perform the administration of prescribed medications and monitors response.
  • Maintain a knowledge of medications, procedures, and equipment used in the care of cardiac and medical-surgical patients.

What Qualifications You Will Need :

  • ADN required and BSN preferred
  • Texas State RN license or compact license is accepted
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) for Healthcare Providers issued by either the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • Must have at least one (1) year Stepdown, Progressive Care, PCU or Intermediate Care RN experience in an acute care hospital
