About The Position
Job Title : Radiation Therapist Job Specialty : Clinical-Allied Job Duration : 13 weeks Shift : Days Guaranteed Hours : 40 hours per week Experience : No prior experience required License : Radiation Therapy certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) Certifications : None Must-Have : - Graduation from a Radiation Therapy Technologist program approved by the Council of Allied Health Education and Accreditation (CAHEA) Job Description : - Administer radiation therapy in accordance with physician's instructions and the patient's treatment plan.
- Enter data into computer systems, set controls to operate and adjust equipment, and regulate dosage. - Assist physicians, radiation oncologists, clinical physicists, and others as necessary to prepare the physical and technical aspects of radiation treatment plans, using information about patient condition and anatomy.
- Construct patient immobilization devices as ordered by physicians. - Maintain patient and billing records, reports, and files according to department policies and procedures, including tracking radiation dosages, equipment settings, and patient reactions.
- Perform routine and complex radiation therapy treatments such as total body irradiation, stereotactic radiosurgery, and low and high dose-rate brachytherapy according to established practices and standards.
- Prepare equipment and room for patients. - Use appropriate protective equipment and procedures to ensure the safety of patients, self, and others.
- Perform quality assurance procedures per state and federal guidelines. - Provide on-the-job clinical instruction and evaluation for student radiation therapists.
Additional Information : The facility uses Elekta linear accelerator machines.
