Job Description
- Develop, review, and implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance.
- Develop, implement, and manage comprehensive safety programs and policies in compliance with Cal / OSHA and OSHA regulations.
- Interface with outside agency inspectors.
- Prepare and submit site reports to various agencies in a timely manner.
- Comply with Environmental, Health, & Safety requirements and procedures at all times.
- Coordinate the review, approval, and procurement of site safety equipment.
- Lead the facility Safety Committee and oversee activities of safety teams / committees.
- Continuously improve safety programs and processes.
- Perform other duties as required to best serve the company.
- Liaison with Human Resources on injury, illness, and workers' compensation claims, ensuring compliance with Cal / OSHA regulations and other relevant safety standards.
- Complete and maintain Cal / OSHA logs and reporting, ensuring all records are accurate and up-to-date.
- Update and manage the company's Illness and Injury Prevention Program (IIPP).
- Conduct safety training sessions for employees in both English and Spanish, ensuring all staff are educated on safety procedures, hazard identification, and injury prevention.
- Train employees on safety protocols and enforce them when necessary.
- Organize and maintain various required training programs, including OSHA and emergency response.
- Tailor training methods to accommodate diverse groups of individuals.
- Perform regular safety audits and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and implement corrective actions.
- Respond to workplace accidents, injuries, or occupational diseases to investigate the causes and determine ways to prevent similar incidents in the future.
- Lead investigations of workplace accidents and incidents, identifying root causes and recommending preventative measures.
- Oversee incident investigation and root cause analysis activities (both office and manufacturing), ensuring thorough investigation and documentation of all incidents.
- Maintain records of safety-related incidents, including incident reports, training documentation, and safety data sheets.
- Ensure all safety practices and policies comply with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Maintain up-to-date records and documentation.
- Create policies, such as accident reporting processes, to enhance workplace safety.
- Monitor working conditions and inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment to identify and correct potential hazards.
- Collaborate with managers to monitor compliance with safety standards and identify safety issues.
- Actively intervene in unsafe activities or operations to prevent accidents.
- Communicate safety standards and initiatives to all levels of the organization.
- Report to official regulatory bodies on OSH matters and ensure compliance with all regulations.
- Stay current with industry best practices and regulatory changes.

The Successful Applicant
- Excellent communication and advisory abilities.
- Effective communication with diverse groups in person, over the phone, in writing, and via digital platforms like Zoom.
- Proven experience working with individuals with limited formal education and adapting communication and training methods accordingly.
- Strong interpersonal skills to establish effective professional relationships internally and externally.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and digital communication tools (, email, video conferencing).
- Bilingual in English and Spanish.
- In-depth knowledge of OSH guidelines and practices, particularly Cal / OSHA and OSHA regulations.
- Certified Safety Professional or similar licensure as a safety officer.
- Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing setting.
- Proficiency in using safety management software and tools.
- Certification in Occupational Health and Safety is highly desirable.
- Ability to function in a complex and ever-changing environment requiring timely responses to numerous critical issues.
