Summary :
GSSC is privately owned and locally operated, seeking an experienced Fire and Security Service Technician based out of Bloomington to join our growing team! Founded in 1946, GSSC remains one of the largest privately held security companies in the Midwest.
As a Fire and Security Service Technician, you will be responsible for the inspection, installation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electronic communication systems, and communicating system performance to the customer.
They must meet the highest quality standards set forth by GSSC while working in the most efficient and effective manner to assure minimum down time and maximum performance.

Fire and Security Service Technician Job Responsibilities :

- Services Access Control, CCTV, Intrusion, and Fire Alarm System
- Ability to program all GSSC systems
- Tests all equipment and verifies signals to ensure proper performance of systems.
- Educates and trains customers on system operation and functionality of systems
- Communicates daily with Customer Service Coordinator on delays, requirements, and general status of service tickets
- Manages individual truck stock inventory, materials, tools, and company equipment
- Reads and interprets wiring diagrams, schematics, and manufacturer manuals
- Complies fully with the safety programs of GSSC and the Client
- Handles on-call duties on a regular basis with additional pay
- Performs system preventative maintenance of customer equipment
- Positively represents GSSC to customers with consistent professionalism
- All other duties as assigned
Fire Tasks
- Installation and maintenance of Fire system installations
- Conduct annual and semi-annual fire alarm inspections as needed.
- Completing the Record or Completion (ROC) for completed systems
- Completing inspection reports for municipality required inspection schedules
- Filing ROC and Inspection reports within the ERP system and required compliance website locations
- Printing required documents for site storage after an ROC or Inspection
- Follow up Inspection visits for repairs on failed points
- Completing separate repairs as per required to pass an inspection
Fire and Security Service Technician Minimum Qualifications :
- Hold a valid state driver’s license with a clean driving record
- 5 years of experience in the commercial security field specific to service of equipment, including Access Control, CCTV, Networking, Wireless Intrusion, Wired Intrusion and Fire Alarm Systems
- Required to be punctual to required work locations and complete scheduled service calls in a timely manner
- Working knowledge of UL certification requirements, testing, documentation and service
- Associate degree required or 2+ years of related experience and / or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read Blueprints and utilize manufacturer manuals and technical support
- Ability to be on the On-Call rotation throughout the year including a minimum of one holiday per year, one week at a time (number of weeks within a year are dependent on the number of individuals in the rotation) You will receive extra pay for weeks you are on call.
Preferred Qualifications :
- BICSI Certification
- NICET Certification
- Computer / Networking Experience
- Power Limited Technician (PLT) Licensed or willingness to receive PLT License within 6 months of employment
Physical, Mental and Environmental Requirements :
- Employee is required to stand, walk, climb, sit and use hands and fingers.
- Ability to complete ladder work, operate scissor and boom lifts, move boxes, and lift, up to 50lbs.
- Reaching, grasping and carrying activities also required.
- Moderate noise level in the work environment.
- Although most work is performed inside, occasional outside activities are subject to seasonal temperature fluctuations.
