Job Description

PURPOSE AND SCOPE :

Under general / limited supervision, position is responsible for multiple, significant functions in the campus Wellness Center.

Ensures all LSC policies, practices and surrounding functions are carried out correctly.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS :

• Supervises the weight room
• Maintains and cleans equipment
• Welcomes guests to the Wellness Center
• Teaches guests how to use the equipment and provides basic fitness information
• Ensures rules and regulations are enforced
• Provides basic first aid if necessary
• Reports and resolves complaints
• Must be able to re-rack weight plates
• Responsible for cleaning equipment and surrounding floor space, cardiovascular machine, free weights and pin selector
• Responsible for other reasonable related duties as assigned

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES :

• Capable of lifting up to 45 pounds
• Ability to cooperate and work well with other staff members
• Good communication skills
• Basic knowledge of fitness equipment and exercise
• Customer service orientated
• Proficient in the use of computers and related software for word processing, spread sheets, and database management; Specific software experience in Windows and Microsoft Office

PHYSICAL ABILITIES :

The work requires some physical exertion, such as long periods of standing; walking over rough, uneven, or rocky surfaces;

recurring bending, crouching, stooping, stretching, reaching, or similar activities; or recurring lifting of moderately heavy items.

The work may require specific, but common, physical characteristics and abilities, such as above average agility and dexterity.

WORK SCHEDULE AND CONDITIONS :

• Equipment used includes, PC workstation running on a LAN in a Microsoft Windows environment, calculator, phone and other general office equipment, and workout / exercise equipment
• Interface with internal and external contacts as needed to carry out the functions of the position
• Work is performed in a gymnasium / fitness type of environment
• May be scheduled to work morning, afternoon, evening shifts on weekdays or weekends

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS :

• High School Diploma or GED
• AED / CPR / First-aid certified, or willing to become certified within first 30 days after being hired

Salary

Hourly Pay Rate is $13.52
