This full-time position will be located in Detroit and will have a mixture of design, production, and administrative responsibilities that will enable her to become a well-rounded fashion designer.

The ideal candidate may be a recent graduate of a fashion design program (or equivalent) who can demonstrate artistic skill, a passion for fashion, and desire to learn on the job.

This individual must also demonstrate strong communications and organization skills; thrives in a fast-paced, startup environment;

and cares deeply about supporting a sustainable, conscientious creative economy. Responsibilities ? Creates original artwork for prints and embellishments ?

Creates repeats and layouts for prints and embellishments ? Creates and shares clear instructions for suppliers for the development of unique designs, prints and embellishments ?

Conducts light handwork and garment construction ? Conducts light pattern making and sample cutting ? Creates and updates specifications for new styles ?

Creates original tech packs ? Updates tech packs throughout development and production cycle ? Measures factory samples and records variations ?

Assists in sample and production fittings ? Conducts research to stay up to date with current fashion trends and customer preferences ?

Organizes and assists with seasonal photoshoots, image editing and retouching ? Supports the digital / marketing team in the creation of visual assets for Hope for Flowers platforms and social media ?

Communicates daily with factories, partners and suppliers ? Manages domestic and international sample shipping ? Assists in customer service duties ?

Supports the maintenance of maintain physical inventory, samples, and stock ? Supports the management of the sample archive Qualifications : ?

Proficient in Adobe, Photoshop, and Illustrator ? Expert-ability to sketch or to communicate design ideas via computer program.

  • Technical knowledge of knit and / or woven and / or sweaters apparel construction preferred. ? Knowledge of fabric and trims preferred.
  • Knowledge of fabric treatments as well as wash and dye techniques preferred. ? Knowledge of knit and / or woven and / or sweaters manufacturing techniques and processes preferred.
  • Ability to research and report on industry trend direction, color direction, and fabric innovations approximately 9-12 months ahead of season.
  • Ability to recognize and accurately forecast fashion and cultural trends as they relate to the target customer. ? Excellent communications and follow-up skills ?

Excellent organization and record-keeping skills ? Strong problem-solving and research skills ? Ability to respond to business objectives with creative, innovative, and cost-effective design solutions.

Ability to work independently and in teams ? Proven creative and artistic aptitude ? Bachelor of Fine Arts and / or Fashion Design preferred All candidates must be able to work from our Detroit office.
