Title : Supervisor, Transportation
Under limited supervision, directly supervises and manages bus drivers for an assigned area of DeKalb County School District’s (DCSD) school transportation operations, including routing and scheduling programs.
Essential Functions :

- Supervises school bus drivers in the transportation of students to ensure drivers are in conformance with federal, state, and local laws, rules, and regulations
- Oversees the assigning of driver overtime; field trips, athletic events, and special events to drivers in accordance with established guidelines;
coordinates time-off for bus drivers and arranges a substitute as necessary
- Assigns and reviews and corrects employee payroll discrepancies
- Prepares, reviews, and corrects reports regarding fuel consumption, bus utilization, mileage, equipment and supply inventory, driver activities, leave, and employee payroll
- Insures drivers are drug and alcohol tested when required by federal, and state laws and district policy
- Schedules and conducts driver meetings and training to keep drivers informed of policies, procedures, regulations, and rules
- Drives continuous improvement using safety metrics and key transportation performance indicators
- Maintains manual and electronic documents, files, and records for the purpose of documenting activities and / or providing an up-to-date reference and audit trail;
Prepares, reviews, and maintains correspondences, reports, and other administrative duties as required
- Attends a variety of meetings, conferences, and workshops to maintain current knowledge of Pupil Transportation Industry best practices.
- Trains, supervises, and evaluates the performance of assigned staff including bus drivers.
- Resolves complaints regarding bus routes, scheduling, bus stops and regional transportation personnel
- Receives and responds to emergency calls after hours and on weekends
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE :
- High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Associate degree in Business Administration, Planning, Logistics, Business, or closely related area preferred.
- Minimum three years of experience in transportation management or closely related area, including scheduling and route development required.
- Commercial driver’s license (CDL) with Passenger & School Bus (P&S) endorsements required within 90 days (about 3 months) of employment.
