We are looking for line cooks who are interested in training for leadership roles as Sous Chefs in our scratch kitchens. Our Sous Chefs manage the fast-paced energy and high volume in the caf, by working with the Caf Head Chef to oversee all kitchen operations.
The Sous Chef leads and inspires the caf savory kitchen team to exceed our guests expectations at every opportunity by creating amazing dishes from scratch while upholding the execution of Tattes service and product standards.
The Sous Chef also embodies the passion we have for our savory team members (prep cooks, line cooks, and dishwashers) by proactively developing them as a team and as individual culinary professionals.
Successful candidates in this transitional track from line cook to Sous Chef will typically :
- Spend 4-6 months in position as a line cook to learn all of our stations,
- Be considered for promotion (with a raise) to Kitchen Manager (subject to a satisfactory background check),
- Complete training and validation of skills required to become a Sous Chef (which can take 2-4 months), and
- Then be considered for promotion to Sous Chef with corresponding pay and benefits.
Additional Sous Chef training and support will also be provided once in position. Please note that team members in this fast track to chef must perform successfully at each step to advance.
Your recipe for success :
- Minimum of 6 months experience as a line cook (depending upon formal degree or training within a high-volume sophisticated restaurant operation).
- Proven passion for culinary excellence and exceeding guest expectations.
- Love amazing food and people.
- Comprehensive knowledge of food with a focus on quality, production, sanitation, cost controls, and presentation.
