Special Education Teacher (Grades 7-12)
Job Location - Cedarhurst, NY
Position Overview : The school in Cedarhurst, NY, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Education Teacher for grades 7-12.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing tailored educational services to students with diverse learning needs, ensuring a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that fosters growth and success.
Key Responsibilities :
- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) tailored to meet the unique needs of each student.
- Adapt and modify curriculum materials to accommodate students' learning styles and abilities.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies to engage students and enhance their academic, social, and emotional development.
- Monitor and assess student progress regularly, adjusting instruction and interventions as necessary.
- Collaborate with other teachers, support staff, and parents to create a cohesive and supportive educational experience for students.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of student progress, attendance, and other required documentation.
- Foster a positive, respectful, and inclusive classroom environment that promotes student engagement and learning.
- Participate in IEP meetings, parent-teacher conferences, and other relevant school events or meetings.
- Stay informed of best practices and new developments in special education through ongoing professional development.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Special Education or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Valid New York State certification in Special Education for grades 7-12.
- Experience working with students with diverse learning needs, including those with autism, learning disabilities, and behavioral challenges.
- Strong understanding of IEP development and implementation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues, parents, and other stakeholders.
- Patience, creativity, and a genuine passion for working with students with special needs.
