JOB DESCRIPTION

Mechanical Designer (SolidWorks)

Responsibilities

  • Complete 3D designs and assemblies for complex robotic and automated systems, machine design
  • Properly size and select automation components including pneumatics, sensors, and motorized systems
  • Review 3D models for safety concerns, accuracy, and completion
  • Work concurrently on one or more projects of moderately complex scope
  • Create 2D detail prints, field sketches and layouts as assigned
  • Collaborate as a productive member on large projects, and support Sales in development of new system concepts
  • Schedule activities to complete assigned tasks and projects, communicate and document requisite information per established policies and procedures
  • Understand customer needs, apply technical knowledge to identify process requirements, recommend and implement custom engineered solutions
  • Demonstrate Engineering professionalism in all activities and provide efficient service to customers

Skills and Abilities

  • Technically proficiency with Solidworks 3D CAD
  • Strong working knowledge of mechanical principles, understanding of 3D models, layout drawings and engineering specifications
  • Self-directed and able to act as mechanical technical lead for assigned projects
  • Must be able to communicate with internal and external customers from a broad spectrum of disciplines
  • Must be able to learn, understand and apply new technologies
  • Must possess planning and organizational skills
  • Must possess exceptional attention to detail in all attributes of a project
  • Must be able to take direction and effectively complete tasks in a high-pressure environment

    • Education

  • 2-year degree in design, mechanical technology, drafting, manufacturing, or a related field (preferred) with 5+ years of related experience (3D solid modeling experience and proficiency in Solidworks). Must have basic knowledge and experience of Microsoft Office.
