Role overview

As a member of the Core Systems team you will contribute to providing foundational infrastructure as a consumable platform / service for revenue generating services, their dependencies, and product engineering teams.

The scope of the team and role oversees cloud resources in AWS, cloud governance including, cost attribution, cloud networking, and OS configuration / orchestration.

Additionally, are responsible for enabling customers to access the CarGurus website (ie Registrars, DNS, CDN) and for critical shared systems used across the organization.

ie Github, jFrog Artifactory, HashiCorp Vault).

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and run CarGurus production infrastructure in collaboration with support and build / delivery platform teams.
• Grow and maintain our global infrastructure by building new, extending or rearchitecting existing storage, compute, and data infrastructure services and platforms.

AWS S3, EC2, EKS, ELB, R53, IAM, etc)

Move towards 100% infrastructure as code using software and automation to repeatably instantiate and perform all lifecycle operations.

Terraform, Chef, Git, Github Actions, Concourse)

• Accelerate the adoption of self-service workloads by delivering a suite of self-service offerings utilizing AWS services and IaaC.
• Move towards detailed resource attribution and clear ownership following FinOps best practices.

What You'll Bring

• Curiosity and a strong desire to innovate
• Extremely comfortable and proficient hands-on Linux / Unix experience
• Proficient in at least one high-level programming language (Python, Ruby, Go)
• Experience with public / private cloud infrastructure using role-based security, APIs. (AWS, Terraform)
• Experience working with creating infrastructure as code, configuration management, and CI / CD pipelines. (Terraform, Chef, Ansible, Salt, etc.)
• Expertise building or working with a container or VM orchestration platform. (K8s, Openshift, Vmware, Docker Swarm)
• Familiarity with Java web application development and production operations.
• Broad familiarity with IP network routing, DNS, load balancing, and security.
• Ability to take large projects and self-direct and work independently
• Ability to work through ambiguity to discover the true driving factors and be able to make design decisions
