The Department of English at the University of Florida, Gainesville invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position to teach in the BA and PhD programs in the field of African American Literary and Media Studies, beginning August 16, 2025.
Areas of specialization might include Gender and Sexuality studies, Diaspora studies, Literary and Cultural studies, Afro-Futurism and / or Afro-Pessimism, Digital Humanities, and Environmental Humanities.
We welcome applications from all candidates with records of publication and teaching in the field. The normal teaching assignment is two courses per semester.
The successful candidate must be able to work with students, faculty and staff from a wide range of social and cultural backgrounds.

Minimum Qualifications :
PhD in relevant field.
Preferred Qualifications :
- Experience teaching small, large, and online undergraduate and / or graduate classes
- Background in Performance Studies, Rhetoric, and / or Argumentation
- Background and / or experience working with local neighborhood community organizations
