As a Commercial Construction Project Manager in Portland, Oregon, you will oversee the planning, coordination, and execution of commercial construction projects.

You will ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. The role requires collaboration with clients, architects, engineers, subcontractors, and various stakeholders to achieve project goals while adhering to local regulations and company policies.

Client Details

Our client is an established Regional General Contractor that primarily focuses on tenant improvements and ground up commercial construction.

Their projects range from $2 to $50M in value, focusing on medical, industrial, k-12 tenant improvements. The company is experiencing constant growth due to market growth and a diverse pipeline.

Description

Key Responsibilities :

Project Planning :

  • Develop detailed project plans, schedules, and budgets.
  • Work with design teams to ensure project scope is aligned with client needs.
  • Obtain necessary permits and ensure compliance with Portland city regulations and codes.

Budget Management :

  • Monitor project costs and ensure projects stay within budget.
  • Manage financial reporting, invoicing, and change orders.
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors and subcontractors.

Team Leadership :

  • Lead and manage on-site construction teams, including subcontractors and laborers.
  • Conduct regular meetings with project stakeholders to track progress and resolve issues.
  • Provide clear communication and direction to ensure everyone is aligned with project objectives.

Risk Management :

  • Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure safety protocols and OSHA standards are strictly followed.

Client Relations :

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients.
  • Ensure client satisfaction by delivering high-quality work and resolving concerns promptly.
  • Provide regular updates and progress reports.

Project Execution :

  • Monitor project progress and ensure adherence to schedules and specifications.
  • Coordinate inspections and address any compliance issues.
  • Ensure timely project delivery while maintaining high-quality workmanship.

Documentation :

  • Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including contracts, permits, change orders, and progress reports.
  • Ensure all records are up-to-date and easily accessible

Profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial construction project management.
  • Proven experience with budgeting, scheduling, and managing complex commercial projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction processes, local building codes, and safety regulations in Portland.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Procore, Microsoft Project).
  • Ability to handle multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.
