Our work depends on a Virtualization Engineer joining our team to support Government activities in Sterling, VA or Annapolis Junction, MD.

At GDIT, we foster a people-focused and customer-centric environment in delivering Server & Compute Platform Engineering Services.

As a Virtualization Engineer supporting the Government, you will be responsible for physical / virtual platforms, server build deployments, server virtualization, hyperconverged platforms, etc.

In this role, a typical day will include :

• Designs and builds virtual environment service models including Infrastructure-as-a-Service and Platform-as-a-Service.
• Identifies, designs, and implements process improvements for the virtualization of and distribution of applications : automating manual processes, optimizing delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability
• Designs, implements, and maintains VMWare vSphere virtualization infrastructure, including ESXi hosts, vCenter Server, and vSAN.
• Analyze user’s requirements, concept of operations documents, and high-level system architectures to develop system requirements specifications
• Incorporate new plans, designs and systems into ongoing operations
• Develops system architecture and system design documentation
• Interacts with the Government regarding technical considerations and for associated problems, issues, or conflicts
• Responsible for the technical integrity of work performed and deliverables associated with the Systems Engineering area of responsibility

What you’ll need :

• Active TS / SCI clearance and ability to obtain and maintain a CI poly
• DoD IAT Level II Certification : Security+ CE, CND, SSCP, GSEC, GICSP, CySA+, or CCNA Security.
• Education : Bachelor of Science Degree, or a related technical discipline, or the equivalent combination of education, technical certifications or training, or work experience.
• 10 years’ of related experience
• Strong knowledge of virtualization technologies such as VMware, Hyper-V, or KVM
• Proficiency in configuring and optimizing virtual machines, storage, and networking
• Knowledge with configuration of virtual switches and VLANs
• VMware Certified Professional certification
