JOB RESPONSIBILITIES-
RN- Medical & Surgical Unit
RN - MED / SURG

Registered Nurse candidates for the Med / Surg Unit will have the following job responsibilities :
- Assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care plans in consultation with healthcare professionals.
- Evaluating medical information, as well as providing direct and individualized bedside nursing care to pre-and post-surgery patients.
- Preparing, administering and recording prescribed medications.
- Changing dressings, inserting catheters, and starting IVs.
- Adjusting specialized medical equipment as needed, as well as interpreting and recording measurements.
- Monitoring patients' vitals and reporting adverse reactions to medications in a timely manner.

Registered Nurse candidates for the Med / Surg Unit must meet the following minimum job qualifications :
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing or enroll in a BSN or advanced degree program and obtain a BSN within 5 years of hire date into RN position.
- Grandfathering will be accepted between departments and Mission Health entities.
- Exemptions, or extensions, may be approved by the facility CNO and reported out to the CNO Council members. Each facility will ensure tracking of exemptions should this information be needed.
RNs with 10 years or more of experience are exempt.
- Preferred Education : Masters in Nursing.
- Must have and maintain current licensure as registered nurse with the North Carolina Board of Nursing. eNLC (Enhanced Nurse License Compact) license may apply, licensee should confirm with NCBON
- Certificate : BLS Healthcare Provider
- Preferred License / Certifications : National Certification in area of specialty
- Required Experience : One year hospital nursing experience
Pay rate : 1-5 years exp : $30-35; 6-10 years exp : $36-41; 10-15 years of exp : $40-43
