Function / Duties of Position
This position manages the STELLA Lab, a significant research lab with multiple projects funded by a variety of agencies.
The Lab Director is responsible for the organizational management of the STELLA Lab. Their prime objective is to coordinate the day-to-day operations of the lab while ensuring research expectations set by the Principal Investigator (PI), collaborators, and sources of funding are met.
The Lab Manager works with the PI to design, implement, and evaluate various research projects. They handle the Lab’s fiscal allocation of the budget and spending and oversee the training and supervision of Research Assistants, postdoctoral scholars, and students.
The Lab Manager represents the organization by working with community members and organizations to facilitate alignment with cultural values and study recruitment.
They liaise with funding agencies and identify financial resources. Collaborates with stakeholders on developing research programs and oversees implementation.
Assists in formulating program strategies and goals; directs long-term planning and develops policies and procedures. Coordinates closely with OADRC Staff and Faculty to meet scientific objectives.
Develops and plans research programs and implementation, and provides guidance to faculty regarding staffing, funding, and human subjects research interventionist training.
Managerial responsibility for program development, administration, and success. Management of all aspects of fidelity for multiple interventions within the lab.
Additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Master’s degree in relevant field AND 5 years of relevant experience, OR equivalent combination of Bachelor's in relevant field in conjunction with training and experience may be considered.
- Demonstrated ability to implement innovative human subjects research agenda, manage multiple RCT’s and multiple lab staff.
- Co-Investigator in behavioral research with experience in initial study design, development of protocol, MOP / SOPs, curriculum, and intervention content.
- Expertise in fidelity assessment.
- Demonstrated success in securing NIH funding as Co-Investigator.
- Experience in website development.
- Experience in administration and analysis of Focus Groups.
- Managerial experience required.
- Strong interpersonal skills, exceptional organization, and communication skills. Shares success with others, resolves conflict directly and constructively, works well across disciplines, sets appropriate personal / professional boundaries.
Works well as part of a team; ability to juggle multiple tasks.
Certification in Good Clinical Practices, Responsible Conduct of Research.
Preferred Qualifications
- 10 Years of relevant experience.
- History of successful publications and presentations on CV.
Additional Details
- Typical schedule : M-F, occasional nights and weekends, and international, national, local travel
- Work schedule may vary depending on job / study requirements
- Travel between meeting locations including using the Portland Aerial Tram
- May have regular exposure to noise and interruptions
