This position is based in Denver, CO with a hybrid work schedule.

Position Summary

The individual will be viewed as a technical engineer and / or the subject matter expert for the organization in the application of advanced theories, concepts, principles, and processes within the scope of power distribution system operations and automation.

Responsible for major projects or several complex projects of moderate to large scope. Serves as organization spokesperson on advanced projects and / or programs.

Acts as advisor to management and customers on advanced technical research studies and applications. Works under consultative direction toward broad general goals and objectives.

May provide work direction for a team of engineers, technicians, and other professionals as necessary to complete assignments.

Essential Responsibilities

• Applies extensive technical expertise and has a higher-level understanding of the basic principles of other related disciplines.
• As a recognized internal technical SME, conceives plans and conducts research to develop procedures, codes, and standards.
• Exercises authority and technical leadership on assignments that are often self-initiated and self-directed.
• May lead multiple critical and / or complex projects including research, design, equipment specification & selection, installation, start-up, commissioning and evaluation of work progress and results.
• Acts as advisor to management and customers on advanced technical research studies and applications.
• Serves as organization spokesperson on advanced projects and / or programs.
• May provide oversight of engineers, interns, craft personnel, technicians, and other professionals.
• May provide overall coordination of processes related to budgeting, estimating, forecasting, accounting, and work order management.

Minimum Requirements

• Principal Level Minimum Requirements ($106,600-$149,000)
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from ABET accredited curriculum (or recognized equivalency) 9+ years relevant engineering experience.
• PE (Professional Engineer) registration required.
• Ability to demonstrate unique technical skills and core competencies for this engineering level.
• Senior Level Minimum Requirements ($92,300-$123,033)
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from ABET accredited curriculum (or recognized equivalency).
• 5+ years relevant engineering experience.
• EIT / FE (Engineer in Training / Fundamentals of Engineering) required.
• Staff Level Minimum Requirements ($77,900-$101,167)
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering from ABET accredited curriculum (or recognized equivalency).
• 2+ years relevant engineering experience.
• Entry Level Minimum Requirements ($66,600-$84,400)
• Required bachelor’s degree in engineering from ABET accredited curriculum (or recognized equivalency).
• 0+ years relevant engineering experience.

Preferred Requirements

• Distribution operation experience with ADMS applications (e.g., IVVO, FLISR), Field Area Network (FAN), and Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI).
• Experience on capacitor banks / reclosers operations and settings.
• General understanding of a SCADA system with wireless communications.
• Experience in automation tools such SQL, PI Vision, PI AF, MS Power Apps, and Python.
• PE (Professional Engineer) registration may be required depending on business need.
• EIT / FE (Engineer in Training / Fundamentals of Engineering).

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is : $70,000.00 to $150,000.00 per year.
