Civil / Site Engineer

Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities :

  • Conduct field investigations and analyze failures involving all types of civil-site built environments and infrastructure for large scale land developments, master planned communities, mixed used projects, roadway and utility, and streetscape enhancements.
  • Evaluate design / construction-related deficiencies associated with grading and drainage, stormwater conveyance, underground utility systems, erosion control, concrete flatwork, asphalt pavements, and hardscape systems.
  • Experience with :
  • design of site-visibility at intersections, vehicular use areas, parking lots, pedestrian and vehicular ingress / egress ways.
  • the applicability of MUTCD, ADA standards, and Sunshine 811 markings.
  • preparation, permitting, and construction implementation of civil / site construction plans related to FDOT, water management districts, and various municipalities.
  • municipal zoning and variance hearings.
  • Conduct unbiased investigations for various types of clients.
  • Responsible for retention and development of client relations.
  • Prepare oral and written reports in layman's terms that document causes of failure, extent of loss, and recommended remediation.
  • Deliver professional presentations, develop client relationships and promote self to client groups.
  • Ability to support conclusions by appropriate expert testimony in legal proceedings.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications;

establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

Position Requirements :

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering required
  • Minimum of five (5) years of civil / site development experience
  • P. E. (Professional Engineer) registration required through testing
  • Must possess strong writing skills
  • Public speaking experience a plus
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills

Physical Requirements :

  • Ability to travel on a variable schedule, including 50% of the time locally and 20% of the time overnight
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs
  • Ability to climb ladders and inspect roofs
  • Ability to maneuver in and around buildings and in confined spaces
  • Ability to drive to site locations and fly on airplanes, at times at unpredictable hours
  • Ability to effectively communicate with clients and colleagues
  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required by the work site
