JOB SUMMARY

The Purchasing Supervisor is responsible for leading a small team of purchasing agents, while also conducting day to day procurement activities to support effective business operations.

This includes ensuring that business and customer service performance expectations are achieved in a timely, professional manner.

The Purchasing Supervisor leads the assigned staff in continuous improvement of purchasing performance through the analysis of daily procurement activity and driving process improvement.

This position is responsible for managing the purchase of materials or services from approved and preferred suppliers. This position will be the face to the local teams for the regional business organization and drive effective collaboration and communication.

The Purchasing Supervisor will enforce procurement policies and procedures while ensuring compliance outcomes.

Responsibilities :

Project / Business Responsibilities :

Lead a team of 5-10 Purchasing Agents / Administrators in a defined territory, including approval of timecards as required by payroll processes / systems.

Responsible for manpower planning and analysis, scheduling of shift-work as needed to cover each territory, managing coverage of phone queues, and assignments as required, etc.

Communicate the value of strategic sourcing, procurement, and materials mgmt. to all employees. Work in conjunction with region GM's / RD's to drive that value for the business while still meeting customer expectations for SLA's / contractual entitlements.

Work with Purchasing leadership team to establish viable, cost effective, and strategic sourcing objectives and put standard operating procedures in place to support all requirements for business and compliance outcomes, including customer audit readiness.

Establish and enforce procurement policies and procedures, and Key Performance Indicators (KPI's), consistent with financial controls needed as well as any QMS.

Work with Purchasing leadership to evaluate and choose suppliers the company will do business with. This includes examining quality of product, pricing, and lead times, then deciding which suppliers best fit company needs.

Supplier evaluation is a continuous project, updated with each contract and shipment to ensure benchmarks are hit and goods and services continue to meet required standards and timetables.

Analyze and compare financial reports and pricing proposals from several trusted suppliers before negotiating terms and prices to obtain the best deal for the company overall.

Driving toward deflationary spend with MSA's / LTA's in place. Work with legal on all agreements.

Training staff members to be knowledgeable about product quality requirements, how to determine when products are unacceptable, and what actions to take when quality / service standards are not met.

Monitoring contracts to ensure that the supplier meets expectations and invoices are approved and paid in a timely manner.

Making recommendations for any required adjustments or changes to existing contracts.

Humble, servant leadership of procurement organization while also monitoring KPI's and managing performance accordingly.

People Responsibilities :

Qualifications :

Project / Business Management :

Education and / or experience equivalent to a bachelors degree in Business or related field and 7+ years of relevant experience is required.

Experience in HVAC, Refrigeration or Service Industry highly desired.

Accounting and mathematical skills to conduct value analysis, discrepancy resolution, and the review of bids and pricing proposals.

Lean Six Sigma training a plus.

Ability to make sound decisions to successfully integrate objective, opportunities and resources.

Demonstrated leadership skills including strong organizational and team building skills.

Ability to successfully manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.

Interpersonal relations skills and the ability to communicate effectively in verbal, written and presentation forms.

Ability to understand and follow all company policies and procedures and all applicable State and Federal laws.

Ability to use typical business tools including E-Mail, Word, Excel, etc.

People Management :

Minimum 5 years of supervisory experience required
