Job Description and Responsibilities

North America FP&A

The North America Revenue FP&A Team is seeking to hire a Sr. Manager to its broader team supporting the top of the US P&L.

The team is responsible for business drivers, including Payments Volume of $5T per annum, gross revenues, client incentives, and net revenue of $10B+ per annum (with net revenue a key measure of performance).

The Team is tasked with developing conceptually sound, rigorous, and detailed understandings of all of the various elements that impact net revenue, with the goal of optimizing financial performance and delivering against financial goals.

This is supported by core planning & analysis responsibilities, the ongoing drive to uncover new insights and suggest improvements, and by either making or enabling business decisions.

The Sr. Manger will be a visible leader on the FP&A Team that is the day-to-day financial eyes and ears for roughly half of Visas global net revenue.

Position Summary

USA Business Drivers FP&A :

Position has a focus on business drivers which are high profile, complex, and challenging, garnering heightened attention from internal stakeholders as well as the investor community.

Visa USAs $5T of annual payments volume captures 20% of US GDP and is closely monitored and analyzed with a focus on uncovering macroeconomic and competitive insights.

Additionally, since payments volume and processed transactions drive the core of Visas revenue, business drivers are highly visible and form the back-bone of revenue projections.

Key Responsibilities

Serve as a subject matter expert and team leader covering Payments Volume (PV) and Processed Transaction (PT) :

  • Serve as a capable team leader; focused on developing and growing a Financial Analyst
  • Able to teach hard and soft skills, deliver feedback, and provide exposure
  • Comfortable adjusting his / her style while working alongside both the Financial Analyst and Senior Director
  • Planning & Analysis : Actual-Forecast
  • Collaborates with Deals Teams, Product, Sales, Economic Insights team, and Corporate FP&A to analyze trends, understand deal outcomes, and gather insights
  • Provides ongoing Actual-Forecast support for PV and PT by combining analysis and patterns with storylines and judgement
  • Presents results and explains and defends projections to Finance and Business leadership
  • Support or lead special projects related to business drivers, e.g. :
  • Estimating the impact government stimulus has on Payments Volume
  • Formulating a perspective on the impact of inflation and pandemic lockdowns on average ticket size
  • Identifies and implements changes that improve forecast efficiency and accuracy
  • Partners with Corporate FP&A, NA Operations, FSS, and NA Finance to streamline processes

  • Foundational understanding of multi-party economic model (issuers, acquirers, processors, interchange, merchants, cardholders, etc.)
  • Market positioning and motivations of multiple parties in the competitive landscape
  • Make decisions with limited guidance, usually within a complex and often ambiguous environment, to drive rigorous, fact-based recommendations to senior management while supporting syndication with stakeholders across the organization.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

8 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelors Degree in finance, accounting, economics, engineering or relevant technical field or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.

g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD

Advanced analytical skills, hands-on experience developing complex financial models and with expert level proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint

a) Superior problem identification and solving skills with ability to communicate effectively with executive management

b) Detail oriented; ensures accuracy and quality

Ability to work effectively with other functional areas and understand the operational and commercial issues relevant to achieving superior results

Excellent interpersonal and people management skills, client-focused with tenacity to resolve issues and conflicts

Preferred Qualifications

9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelors Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.

g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD

Experienced with multiple complex financial system (e.g. Hyperion, TM1) strongly preferred, with pre-existing knowledge of Visa systems and practices a very significant plus

Experience guiding an FP&A team through forecast and budget cycles strongly preferred

MBA (or relevant equivalent certification) strongly preferred

Foundational knowledge of GAAP and / or Visa Accounting Policy preferred

Investment banking, management consulting, or payments / card industry experience strongly preferred

Work Hours : Varies upon the needs of the department

Travel Requirements : This position requires travel 0% of the time.

Mental / Physical Requirements : This position will be performed in an office setting. The position will require the incumbent to sit and stand at a desk, communicate in person and by telephone, frequently operate standard office equipment, such as telephones and computers.

Location : When we return to office this role will be based in Foster City, CA and will be onsite for a few days a week in accordance with a Hybrid work schedule.
