The College of Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts (PVFA) at Texas A&M University invites applications for one (1) full-time Academic Professional Track (non-tenure) instructional assistant professor with a nine-month academic appointment beginning Fall 2025.
The College and the Dance, Music, and Theatre Performance section seeks an individual with expertise in

- Experience in stagecraft techniques and technologies
A unique theatre degree, the Theatre BFA at Texas A&M emphasizes devising and developing new works. The successful candidate will have ample opportunity to contribute at an early stage to the theatre program’s development and evolution.
Candidates are expected to teach undergraduate courses in theatre, theatrical design, scenography, and stagecraft, develop and implement new curricula pertaining to the PVFA College programs, particularly in the area of theatre, contribute to up to 4 co-curricular performance offerings per academic year, and contribute to academic service.
For appointments at Instructional Assistant Professor level, applicants must have a terminal degree (MFA or PhD) in theatre-related fields, or a combination of a master's level degree in theatre-related fields and significant teaching experience at the college / school level in the field or in a related field.
Preference will be given to individuals with university teaching and student mentorship experience, demonstrated experience in scenic design for theatre and / or other forms of live performance, experience with devised theatre, working knowledge of the materials and methods of scenic construction, properties, and scenic painting, working knowledge of theatrical design software (such as Vectorworks, Isadora, and AutoCAD), full and current knowledge of industry safety and best practices, and participation in multidisciplinary research and / or creative activities.
