Assistant Coach - 7th Grade Volleyball (Smithton Middle School)

This position will assist in the facilitation of the 7th grade volleyball program. This position is located at Smithton Middle School.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

• Maintain the volleyball program.
• Maintaining positive communication with patrons and parents of athletes and potential athletes.
• Assist with coordinating off-season camps and conditioning programs.
• Encouraging good sportsmanship and enthusiasm for the sport.
• Collaborating with other coaches to ensure a comprehensive approach to athletes.
• Ensuring compliance with MSHAA.
• Maintaining statistics on all players.

Perform other duties as necessary to support the mission and vision of Columbia Public School District.

REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports To : Principal, Building Athletic Director and Head Coach

Supervises : None

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum : Minimum : 60 hours of college credit is required; Missouri Substitute teaching certificate is preferred; however candidates can be hired as a provisional coach.

If hired as a coach via a substitute certificate, the individual must satisfactorily complete (make a grade of 80% to pass) a MSHSAA approved coaches education program (NFICEP) before he / she can be hired for a coaching position in any subsequent year.

In addition, all coaches despite certification status must attend a NFICEP first-aid class and pass the exit test given at that time.

Preferred : Bachelor’s degree; Missouri teaching certificate; Prior teaching / coaching experience.
