Job Description

Administers respiratory treatments and tests as ordered by the physician under the direct supervision of a credentialed respiratory therapist.

Cleans and performs preventative maintenance on associated respiratory therapy equipment as necessary. Receives instruction or review several times each day.

High school diploma or the equivalent

Currently enrolled in an AMA approved Respiratory Therapy program

Must have completed at least the 1st semester of their clinical rotation

Maintain a currents state of Missouri education permit

Must have and maintain current CPR certification

Verbal communication skills required to explain procedures to patients and communicate with co-workers

Writing skills required to document procedures and information on patient charts and other records

Must have knowledge of the human development process and ability to work effectively with patients of all ages

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unaided

Lifting greater than 50 pounds requires assistance

Must be able to stand for long periods of time and walk great distances throughout the work shift

CPR certification is required for continuing employment

RRT credential must be attained within six weeks of graduation from an AMA approved respiratory therapy program for continued employment
