Director of Operations

Position Summary : Has responsibility for Flight Operations / Maintenance, Facilities, Safety and Warehouse functions. Responsible for maintaining operational control of all aircraft operated under 14 CFR part 125.
25 regulations as well as ensuring MFI’s operations are conducted in accordance with approved company policies and applicable FAA regulations;
reports to the President. This is a supported position.
Essential Functions :
- Ensures flight operations function in compliance with both FAR 125 and 91 regulations.
- Responsible for ensuring MFI complies with all required federal and / or state safety requirements.
- Ensures all new or revised FAA operational specifications are approved and implemented.
- Serves as primary liaison with the FAA, in coordination with the Chief Pilot and Director of Maintenance.
- Coordinates with Director of Maintenance, Chief Pilot and Logistics Director to coordinate weekly flight schedules.
- Ensures all flight / maintenance / safety policies and procedures are in compliance with applicable regulations.
- Provides assistance as needed to prepare aircraft for scheduled flights.
- Conducts / arranges for training needed to certify operators of various equipment, such as forklifts.
- Responsible to develop and maintain relationship with the US Customs office.
- Responsible for oversight of the flight pouch accounting sheet.
- Responsible to evaluate and recommend the need for additional staff.
- Conducts department head evaluations in accordance MFI policy.
- Ensures staff evaluations are conducted in accordance with MFI policy.
- Works with department heads to identify and provide training opportunities for staff members.
- Recommends changes for Executive Committee consideration for improving MFI’s operations.
- Responsible for ensuring the Company Operations Manual is current and up-to-date.
- Ensures full compliance with all OSHA and any other company safety policies.
- Serves as a member of MFI Executive Committee.
- Performs other duties as needed or assigned.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience :
- Bachelor’s degree, at least eight (8) years aviation experience with at least two (2) of them in an operations leadership / management role or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and foster good, productive working relationships with staff members.
- Strong communications and interpersonal skills.
- Strong working knowledge of MS Word and Excel.
- Strong working knowledge of FAA regulations applicable to MFI’s operation, MFI’s Company Operations Manual as well as other applicable governmental regulations such as OSHA, etc.
- Fork lift certified.
Physical Requirements :
- Position working at a computer or in meetings approximately 50-60% of the time.
- Occasionally will need to bend, stoop, reach and lift not more than 50 pounds.
- Ability to see / hear clearly.
