WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW :

The Senior Director, Fundraising Resource & Planning serves as a strategic leader and integrator across multiple fundraising operations functions. This role translates organizational fundraising priorities into actionable plans, tools, and insights that empower fundraisers and fundraising leaders nationwide. The Senior Director leads a large cross-functional team spanning Sales Operations, Reporting & Decision Support (REDS), Training & Brand Resources, Internal Communications, and Fundraising & Marketing Resources. This position requires a high level of strategic thinking, cross-team collaboration, project management, talent development, and communication skills to ensure alignment between national leadership and field fundraising teams.

WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD (key responsibilities) :

Strategic Leadership & Planning

  • Facilitate monthly and quarterly strategic planning meetings with senior leadership, including DFVP Ops Reviews, CEO / COO Reviews, and Innovation sessions.
  • Lead the development and execution of annual fundraising strategic priorities, including planning guidance and action plans.
  • Manage cross-functional planning timelines, stakeholder engagement, and content development for strategic guidance decks.
  • Serve as a key liaison between fundraising leadership and operational teams to ensure alignment and execution of strategic goals.

Sales Operations Oversight

  • Guide the Sales Operations Director in aligning CRM strategic roadmap, channel design, and portfolio analysis with leadership priorities.
  • Serve as CRM business owner, prioritizing enhancements and building requirements to meet business needs.
  • Oversee development of sales tools including fundraiser playbooks, portfolio optimization guidance, and training / communication materials.
  • Lead annual planning processes, including stakeholder coordination and strategic priority development.
  • Partner with senior leaders to refine and communicate performance metrics and KPIs for fundraising roles.
  • Reporting & Decision Support

  • Deliver reporting and data insights to senior leaders and fundraising teams, including performance metrics, pipeline reviews, forecasts, and program analysis.
  • Oversee enterprise forecasting, Power BI reporting, and ad hoc analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Collaborate with IT and Finance to build data models and forecasting tools.
  • Lead monthly planning and coordination for Ops Reviews, ensuring content aligns with leadership expectations.
  • Training & Brand Resources

  • Develop and execute strategic training plans for major donor fundraising, including onboarding, advanced training, cohort programs, and technical training.
  • Oversee region-specific brand resources and national training events.
  • Lead development of e-learning and just-in-time training resources.
  • Internal Communications

  • Guide development of weekly fundraising briefs, town hall content, donor calls, and recognition programs.
  • Collaborate across development to create integrated communications that support fundraiser success.
  • Coordinate and execute donor calls and support senior leader presentations and donor engagement campaigns.
  • Fundraising & Marketing Resources

  • Develop strategic messaging and donor-facing content, including custom materials for high-value donors.
  • Oversee production of solicitation, cultivation, and stewardship materials, including video and written content for both blue and gray sky scenarios.
  • Manage content organization and accessibility on OneSource, ensuring consistency and usability.
  • Provide strategic oversight for business development programs and ensure development goals are met.
  • Cultivate and solicit new funding opportunities and major gifts.
  • Direct management team and execute strategies to meet business objectives.
  • Provide support, development, and leadership guidance to volunteers.
  • WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED ( Minimum Qualifications ) :

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. :
  • At least 7 years of management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of fundraising principles, strategic planning, and operational execution.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, CRM systems, and data analytics platforms (e.g., Power BI).
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and work collaboratively across departments.
  • Travel : 10-15%- This role is 100% remote and is NOT eligible for relocation reimbursement.

    The salary range for this position is $156,000-192,000 (plus incentive)

    This job will be posted for a minimum of five business days and extended if the applicant pool needs to be expanded.

    Note that American Red Cross salaries are aligned to the specific geographic location in which the work is primarily performed. Other factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include your specific skills, how many years of experience you have and comparisons to other employees already in this role .
