Occupational Therapist, Inpatient BehavioralHealth
POSITIONSUMMARY :
This position reportsdirectly to the Clinical Nurse Manager. This position providesdirect and indirect Occupational Therapy (OT) services, within thescope of licensure to Adult and Adolescent Behavioral Health (BH)inpatients.
The incumbent will assist with developingtreatment plans, coordinate appropriate groups and individualstandardized assessments, complete documentation requirements,provide consultations, and make recommendations to the patient andthe team for patient's maximal functioning.
Identifies supportsnecessary for community based living. Contributes to creatinga caring and compassionate environment through ECHN's Core Valuesof Respect, Teamwork and Communication.
EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION :
This position requires a minimum of aBachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy (OT) received from anAccredited College or University.
State OTR licenserequired.
Must be trainedin PMT and de-escalation techniques, as prescribed by ECHN, andreceive certification within 6 months of hire into therole.
EXPERIENCE :
Experience in working with the chronic BH / psychiatricpopulation preferred.

- This position requires strong clinical skillsincluding a demonstrated strong team orientation.
- Strong written as well as verbal communication using theEnglish language is absolutely essential.
- Computer competency with basic knowledge of MicrosoftWord and Microsoft Outlook is essential.
- Flexibility in approach is vital so that treatment can beindividualized meeting each patient's needs.
- Excellence in time management a must.
- Must be capable of taking swift and efficient action,including patient restraint when responding to patient emergencycodes.

1. Evaluates patient's levelof functioning and treatment needs in a comprehensive manner,including review of pertinent clinical information as evidenced bycustomer feedback, peer feedback and chart review.
2. Develops treatment plansincluding age appropriate goals and interventions, which arewritten in specific, measurable, and time specific terms asevidenced by chart reviews
3. Implements ageappropriate, patient specific treatment as evidenced by knowledgeof patient's clinical issues, level of functioning, review ofpatient's history and treatment plan.
4. Communicates andcoordinates patient's plan of care as evidenced by feedback fromthe treatment team and successful patient outcomes.
5. Completes all requireddocumentation, in a timely manner in accordance with ECHNDepartmental / Behavioral Health standards, policies and proceduresas evidenced by chart review.
6. Provides supervision ongroup topics and group skills to inpatient staff as evidencedby direct observation of groups.
7. Provides input to patientschedules as evidenced by patient plan incorporating suchinput
8. Demonstrates a commitment to professional growth as evidenced bypursuing and attending relevant educationalopportunities.
9. Actively participates and collaborates in team meetings, providingpertinent, functional clinical information as needed for patientcare as evidenced by enhanced patient planning and feedbackreceived from the treatment team.
10. Responds to needs for individualized and comprehensive services asevidenced by providing services individually and / or in a groupsetting.
11. Increases the visibility ofOccupational Therapy services as evidenced by participation inactivities that promote recovery through the use of functionallybased therapeutic modalities.
12. Demonstrates effective time management skills as evidenced bytimely scheduling and completion of evaluation, treatment andconsultation activities as well as writtenrecommendations.
13. Effectively usespsychological and physical management techniques to manage violentor potentially violent situations consistent with PhysicalManagement Training (PMT), as evidenced by peer and supervisorobservation.
14. Participates in EarlyResponse codes and Dr. Strong codes.
