The Care Promoter 1 is anunlicensed medical professional cross-trained to perform routineadministrative and clinical tasks to keep the medical centersrunning smoothly.
The duties of Care Promoter 1 vary from settingto setting, depending on the size, location and type. In additionto administrative duties, Care Promoters perform clinical dutiesunder direct physician supervision in accordance with state medicalpractice acts.
The Care Promoter 1 is an integral member of aPhysician-lead Care Team that is focused on providing excellent andcomprehensive primary care for a specific population ofpatients.

ESSENTIAL JOBDUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES :
Measuresand records patient vital signs; records patient interview andmedical history.
Catalogsand communicates patient needs to the PCP, Clinician, Specialistand / or other clinicalpersonnel.
Prepares patientsfor examinations and performs routine screening tests; assistsphysician with exams; explains treatment procedures and physicians'instructions topatient.
Observes patientsand reports any changes in patient conditions to the PCP,Clinician, Specialist and / or other clinicalpersonnel.
Performnon-critical medical and therapeutic procedures based on medicalinstructions. Collects phlebotomy and other lab specimens;
performsbasic waived labtests.
Prepares andadministers medications; changes dressings, applies bandages,removes sutures and other first aid procedures; uses CPR skillswhen necessary, all under physiciansupervision.
Maintainssupplies, equipment, stocks and sterilizes instruments; practicesOSHA safety standards; performs accurate, legal, and ethicaldocumentation at alltimes.
Processes patientphone messages, returning calls and routing them to other teammembers as appropriate; calls patients to obtain and relaypertinent information for thephysician.
Upon physicianapproval and authorization, calls in prescriptions to the pharmacy.Uses communication skills with appropriate medical terminology;
andfollows appropriate legal and ethical professional conduct;authorized individuals will use the ChenMed Rx system to supportphysician medicationdispensing.
Provides healthcoaching to a defined group of patients to support healthylifestyle choices. Follows up with coached patients via weeklycalls.
Performs other dutiesas assigned and modified at manager’sdiscretion.

Abilityand willingness to travel locally and / or regionally up to 10% of the time to assist in covering othercenters, asneeded
Spokenand written fluency inEnglish
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCECRITERIA :
Highschool diploma or equivalent education (GED)required
Graduationfrom a nationally accredited Medical Assistant program OR comparable healthcare vocational training (i.e. foreign-trainedphysician, paramedic, etc.)required
Aminimum of 1 year of work experience as a Medical Assistant,Patient Care Technician or similar in a hospital, medical clinic orcomparable environment OR documented clinical rotation training can be substituted for workexperience
BLSfor Healthcare Providersrequired
Experienceworking with geriatric patients is aplus
EMRsystem experiencepreferred
