The Cardiac Device Specialist at UVA Health University Medical Center plays a pivotal role in providing specialized care to patients with cardiac devices.
This position offers a unique opportunity to work with cutting-edge technology in a dynamic healthcare environment. The Cardiac Device Specialist will work closely with patients in both clinic and inpatient settings, providing personalized care, patient education, and support.
This role also involves collaborating with a small team of nurses to ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care.
Sign-on bonus, up to $20,000, may be available for qualified candidates.* Maintain and organize the Cardiac Device manufacturer programmers in the Medical Center and Clinics, making sure all software is up to date working with the Heart Center IT team.
- Develop best practice standards working with our anesthesia and OR teams regarding appropriate cardiac device programming for surgical patients.
- Help coordinate cardiac device FDA recalls and advisories, working with risk management on patient communication along with the Electrophysiology physician group in accordance with manufacturer regulatory information.
- Project Management : Support, lead, and facilitate projects across Device Clinic.* Leadership & Training / Development : Provides leadership and training / development to project team members.
- Assists with Cardiac device manufacturer bulk buys in coordination with our qsight inventory team to reduce costs to the EP lab budget.
- Help with the education of our Cardiology fellows to allow them to independently see patients after hours and on weekends.
- Clinical Expertise : Demonstrates clinical expertise in specific patient population(s) related to projects managed.* Technical Execution : Demonstrates technical execution in collection verification and analysis of data.
- Communication & Interpersonal Skills : Communicates effectively with all levels of internal and external personnel.* Technical expert performing device interrogations, programming, and troubleshooting as needed.
- Educate patients and their families about cardiac device management, including remote monitoring and lifestyle modifications.
Position Compensation Range : -MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSEducation : Bachelors required, Masters degree preferred.Experience : Cardiac device experience required.
Licensure : American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider BLS certification required. Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certification required within six months of hire.
