Location : Houston, TX, US
Summary :
Under the direction of the Service Center Manager, the Material Handler will assist with the progression of repair projects in the facility which will include but are not limited to unloading and loading projects, assisting with teardown, cleanup, inspections and project completion as directed, moving partially finished or finished products physically both within the facility and to local outside vendors and assisting with project transactions in the Syteline ERP system under given direction and guidelines.
The candidate will contribute project support by issuing new purchase orders for project repairs with outside vendors, internal transfer orders for manufacturing of customer specific replacement components and other system and team support activities required to complete repair projects.
In addition, the candidate will be performing the following duties.
Responsibilities :
- Unloading, moving and transporting repair components both within the service center and to outside support vendors as specified based on job specific details
- Utilizing manual lifts, fork trucks and transfer equipment (requires applicable safety and operational training) to store and secure projects and materials according to service center standards and procedures
- Perform localized pickup and delivery duties as required to support the shop projects as they progress through the facility;
a clean driving record is mandatory
- Using business system create purchase orders and transfer order for outside repairs and new component procurement
- Communicate clearly and positively with both outside vendors and internal team members to expedite orders based on critical work-in-progress specifics while keeping clear focus on deadlines and due dates
- Support service center safety, ISO, 5S, continuous improvement and quality policies and procedures on a daily basis
Education and Experience :
- Required to operate a forklift; the candidate should have proper OSHA training and valid state licenses.
- Candidate must be in good physical condition and be able to remain on their feet for an extended period of time.
- Material handlers must be able to process and follow written and spoken instructions and have good problem solving and organizational abilities;
must utilize their time effectively and efficiently and be self-directed and detail oriented
- A high school diploma is required, and at least two years in a warehouse or related environment is preferred
- Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend instructions and correspondence in English
- Some computer experience is preferred; Microsoft and MRP / Syteline and planning software experience a positive
- An ability and understanding of basic hand tooling and shop equipment to perform the basic tasks assigned
- Strives to continuously build their knowledge and skills and to meet and exceed commitments to both the employer and customer
- Reliable attendance and punctuality are essential for this position; must be willing to work extra hours and weekends as required to meet deadlines and customer expectations
Mental / Visual / Physical Effort :
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally
- Have strength and stamina to be on your feet and lift packages throughout the day
- The position is performed in a shop environment; may be exposed to loud operating machinery, varying temperatures, chemicals and vapors;
proper understanding and use of PPE is mandatory
