We are seeking Montenegrin Over-the-Phone Interpreters (OPI) to support our USCIS contract. Montenegrin, part of the South Slavic language group, is a rare Balkan language needed in immigration and asylum interviews.

Responsibilities

  • Provide real-time Montenegrin to English telephonic interpretation for USCIS interviews, hearings, and official proceedings.
  • Interpret accurately, neutrally, and professionally in immigration, legal, and administrative contexts.
  • Adhere to USCIS / DHS confidentiality and interpreter ethics standards.
  • Handle both scheduled and urgent / surge assignments.
  • Participate in training, compliance refreshers, and quality assurance audits.

    • Qualifications

  • Native or near-native fluency in Montenegrin and English.
  • 2+ years of professional interpreting experience (immigration, legal, healthcare, community, or government preferred).
  • Knowledge of interpreter ethics, confidentiality, and cultural sensitivity.
  • Strong telephone communication skills and ability to remain accurate under pressure.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident eligible for Tier 3 / Tier 5 federal clearance.
