As part of the Evolved By Nature Research and Development team, we are seeking a motivated and skilled Research Associate / Senior Research Associate to contribute to work on our microbiology projects (QC and discovery) and protein biochemistry projects.

The successful candidate will be responsible for monitoring bioburden of materials (bacteria and fungi cultures at BSL1 / BSL2) and executing microbiology and protein biochemistry experiments and maintaining lab inventory and electronic laboratory notebook.

Responsibilities :

Growing bacteria and fungi in specialized media to monitor bioburden in various materials

Working in BSL2 microbiology lab adhering to safety protocols

Execute biochemical and microbiological experiments and procedures as instructed by the project leads.

Maintenance and decontamination of lab equipment

Maintenance and monitoring of laboratory chemical and consumables inventory and replenishing it

Preparing solutions and cell culture media

Labelling and proper disposal of hazardous materials

Working in close collaboration with the team

Prepare detailed reports to share during project team meetings and at group meetings

Ensure accurate record keeping of all research work, generate progress reports and presentations in a timely manner

Communication with external CROs as needed

Qualifications :

  • BSc / MSc in biology / cell biology / biochemistry or a related field with an emphasis in bacterial cell biology with 2+ years of hands-on experience working in a lab.
  • Use good laboratory practices to ensure smooth and safe workflow
  • Ability for basic troubleshooting
  • Attention to detail and adherence to consistent work practices
  • Ability to work unsupervised and closely with the team

Skills & Abilities : Essential

Essential

Experience in microbial culture techniques, focusing on bacteria and fungi

Some technical foundation in protein chemistry / biochemistry lab processes

Good communication skills with subject matter specialists and non-specialists

Equally comfortable working independently and with a team

Proficiency with Office software (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) or Pages, Keynote and Numbers

Desirable

Experience working in a microbiology QC laboratory

Experience with GraphPad Prism, Adobe Photoshop / Illustrator, NCBI, RSCB

Experience with microbial strain maintenance and genetic manipulation techniques

Experience with protein expression systems / protein purification

Familiarity with techniques such as PCR, gel electrophoresis, and enzymatic assays

Knowledge of data analysis software or programming languages for data analysis

Prior experience in maintaining laboratory inventory and ensuring efficient workflow

Experience with electronic lab notebook
