Overview
General Summary : Exemplifies customer service in every aspect of the job. Directs and controls the operation of the Grocery Department, including supervising and training personnel to achieve departmental and store sales and profit objectives. Provides feedback and recommendations on operational issues and personnel decisions to Store Director and Division management.
Key Responsibilities
- Champions corporate and division customer service programs to meet or exceed division customer service goals. Instills a culture of excellent customer service in the department and throughout the store.
- Responsible for total store operations and directing associates throughout the store, as well as department managers, in the absence of or as needed by the Store Director.
- Management of the Grocery Department : plan, organize, and direct day-to-day operations of the Grocery department, including dairy and frozen sections; conduct daily inspections and initiate corrective measures to ensure product quality and rotation; maintain stock conditions, code dates, cleanliness, sanitation, safety, and security; control pricing following division guidelines and coupon policies.
- Implement Company and Division operating and merchandising policies; control merchandise shrink; supervise and participate in store inventory counts; establish Grocery Department procedures; implement emergency procedures for equipment or software failures.
- Order grocery products and maintain inventory; supervise reclamation; maintain orderly back room, sales floor, and all grocery areas.
- Supervise receiving, storing, stocking, pricing, and merchandising of all Grocery products; manage equipment usage; ensure accurate accounts for merchandise received; engage in suggestive selling and monitor daily logs, purchase reports, and labor.
- Prepare and display product signage.
- Under Store Director supervision, direct the work of all Grocery Department associates; schedule coverage; hire, train, and motivate personnel; ensure proper performance and policy knowledge across the department.
- Monitor associate performance; recommend personnel actions; maintain morale; resolve complaints and report actions to the Store Director; identify and train high-potential associates for advancement.
- Understand store and Grocery Department Profit and Loss; plan promotions and communicate goals and opportunities to associates.
- Respond to customer calls and resolve complaints; maintain confidentiality and accurate department records.
- Perform duties with honesty and integrity in line with Company policies; attend required training and sales meetings; provide feedback to Store Director or District Manager and Division management on operational issues.
