Description
General Overview
The Manager of Infection Control, Ambulatory & High-Level Disinfection (HLDS) at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) / Mass Eye and Ear (MEE) is responsible for the day-to-day implementation, management, and oversight, of the Infection Prevention functions within the ambulatory setting.
The Manager will also provide IC oversight for the HLDS programs at MGH and MEE. The Manager, reporting to the Sr. Manager of Infection Control at MGH and MEE, must have knowledge and experience in infection prevention and control principles and practice, the ability to make evidence-based decisions, exceptional problem-solving skills, and excellent written and oral communication skills.
Must be available to work in the case of a facility-declared emergency.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Implement at the site-level, system infection prevention and control goals, plans, and standards consistent with the clinical, administrative, regulatory / legal requirements and objectives of the organization.
Evaluate the site-specific infection control program by identifying strategies that address the risk of infection transmission.
Oversee site-specific educational efforts related to infection prevention and control.
Ensure implementation of site surveillance, remediation, and reporting of infections, including outbreak detection and response.
Support continuous improvement of infection prevention and control practices. Function as a site liaison to regulatory agencies and public health authorities and serve as representative on external committees as needed.
Plan, organize, and manage all site-specific activities related to infection prevention and control staffing, with 1-3 direct reports.
They will ensure that the productivity and actions of the site team meets and supports operational goals.
- Implement, in collaboration with MGB Occupational Health Services, policies and procedures to assess, mitigate, and respond to occupational infection risk.
- Collaborate with other site-specific stakeholders (., Environmental Health and Safety, Compliance, as appropriate.
- Ensure compliance with allocated funding.
Qualifications
Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree with a Concentration in Infection Control, Public Health, Nursing, Epidemiology, Statistics, or other relevant field.
Master's Degree with a Concentration in Infection Control, Public Health, Nursing, Epidemiology, Statistics, or other relevant field preferred.
- Certification in Infection Control (CIC) required upon hire. Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Massachusetts preferred.
- 5 - 7 years of related work experience required. 5-7 years of experience in a complex academic health center with expertise in ambulatory infection control and HLDS preferred.
- Prior experience in a supervisory or management role in Infection Control strongly preferred.
- Knowledge and experience in : regulatory and other requirements related to Infection Prevention and Control; implementation of CDC National Healthcare Safety Network (NHSN) surveillance and other surveillance for healthcare associated infections;
application of commonly used performance metrics including Vizient, Leapfrog, CMS, others.
- Prior experience in a complex academic health center with expertise in ambulatory infection control and HLDS strongly preferred.
