Position Details
POSITION : High School Assistant Principal
LOCATION : Fitzgerald High School
WORK YEAR : 2024-2025 School Year, 205 Days per year
SALARY : Per Administrator Contract
Qualifications :
Masters Degree in Educational Administration or Curriculum & Instruction or related field.
Must hold, or qualify for, a Michigan School Administrator Certificate.
Five years of certified teaching experience including three years at the secondary level within the
public school setting.
Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate.
Experience in managing State and Federal grants; 31A, Title I, Title II, etc.
Successful experiences with a diverse student and parent population.
Ability to work independently and within a collaborative work environment.
Must be able to assume responsibility with minimal direct supervision.
Demonstrated skill in written and verbal communication .
Experience in data collection, analysis and data dialogues with staff.
Evidence of competency in technology (both Microsoft & Google Platform).
Preferred Qualifications :
Demonstrated knowledge and / or experience in school administration.
Demonstrated experience with MTSS, Restorative Practices, IEP and Behavior Support Plans as
well as working with At-Risk students.
Duties & Responsibilities :
Serves as a proactive leader in the building, identifying and accepting ownership of tasks,
activities and programming.
Lead efforts to innovate curriculum and instruction to meet the needs of students.
Effectively observe and evaluate instructional and support staff members to monitor teaching
practices and ensure both rigor and best practice is occurring in all classrooms.
Experience in developing and implementing a School Improvement Plan and an understanding of
the new Michigan Integrated Continuous Improvement Process (MICIP).
Plan, execute and supervise the process of standardized and local assessments.
Analyzes and shares student data and educational research as the foundational principles of
Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
Designs opportunities to empower students, staff and parents to be integrally involved in all
aspects of the school’s culture and climate.
Foster community relationships and partnerships that support student achievement.
Provide a positive and safe school environment that is conducive to teaching and learning.
Interact with students to encourage each individual to perform at their highest level.
Maintain positive relations with parents, parent groups, school volunteers, and outside agencies.
Participates and leads various processes to meet the needs of individual learners such as 504
meetings, IEP meetings, MTSS meetings and child study meetings.
Create a welcoming environment for students, staff and families.
Foster community relationships and partnerships that support student achievement.
Provide a positive and safe school environment that is conducive to teaching and learning.
Work with staff regarding student discipline.
Interact with students to encourage each individual to perform at their highest level.
Assist in effectively planning and executing professional development sessions.
Assist with preparing and monitoring school budgets.
Assist with policies and procedures from the Board of Education, State and / or Federal level at the
building level.
Work with staff regarding student discipline.
Other duties as assigned.
