Summary of Job Duties : The Orthopedic & Spine Hospital (TOSH), UAMS Health's brand-new surgical hospital is looking for passionate patient care technicians who are ready to join a team that's redefining quality care.

The Patient Care Technician (PCT) is a trained member of the unit-based team who supports the on-going delivery of care as identified by the multidisciplinary Patient Management Team.

The PCT works under the direct supervision of the R.N. and performs tasks and duties which do not require a license, professional judgment or intervention.

The PCT must pass the required competencies. The PCT works within the Department of Nursing standards. The PCT adheres to UAMS clinical programs, policies, procedures and standards and guest care guidelines.

Qualifications :

Minimum Qualifications :

High School Diploma / GEG PLUS successful completion of PCT course within 3 months of hire.

Preferred Qualifications :

Health Care Experience. Patient Care Experience. Certified Nursing Assistant or Military Corpsman.

Excellent communication skills, basic computer skills, strong work ethics and accountability.

Experience in an ambulatory care setting

CPR Certified / Licensed.

Additional Information :

Responsibilities :

Prepares treatment rooms for examination.

Assists with medical procedures and examinations

Conducts patient interviews, measures vital signs (i.e., pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height), and phlebotomy.

Performs EKG's, dressing changes.

Administers approved medications.

Research and scribes for physicians if needed.

Orders / accession orders for clinical laboratory or appropriate processing center.

Performs administrative tasks by registering and scheduling patients for appointments, procedures, etc. using the various registration and scheduling systems.

May perform other duties as assigned.
