Senior Manager - Integration and Special Projects

About the Role

The Sr. Manager will play a key role in Astrana’s growth strategy, leading M&A integration and implementation efforts, and supporting other operational initiatives.

They will build relationships with key market leaders, understand strategic moves, and collaborate with department leaders and teams to plan and execute activities.

The Sr. Manager will develop the framework for the portfolio, formulate roadmaps, and manage integration and special projects as assigned by senior leaders.

Projects will involve complex initiatives and cross-functional departments, covering growth in new markets, payor contract launches / conversions, new service line implementations, and regulatory compliance.

In this role, the Sr. Manager will collaborate with stakeholders to achieve project goals, document processes for future efficiency, and focus on improvement strategies aligned with organizational goals.

The successful candidate must adapt to projects of varying complexity, utilize best practice project management techniques, mentor junior team members, and motivate the project team to support Astrana’s mission and values. What you’ll do :

  • Develop an end-to-end framework / playbook for Astrana to achieve integration and special project goals.
  • Engage early in diligence and pre-close processes to enable intake, initiate planning, kick off projects, and lead integration planning across multiple locations.
  • Partner with CFO / COO, GVP, and other leaders to execute strategic and operational initiatives aligned with key business objectives and long-range plans.
  • Hire, mentor, and develop a high-performing team to support growth, integration, and operational activities.
  • Create detailed project plans with clear steps, timelines, milestones, and assigned owners, monitoring and tracking the status of all initiatives, and escalating as needed.
  • Communicate robustly with stakeholders at all levels, developing clear presentations for executives and other audiences.
  • Identify and manage risks and issues, conducting follow-ups on off-track projects, and focusing on resolution and risk mitigation.
  • Implement change management and communication strategies for all related stakeholders.
  • Map and improve processes to ensure sustainable growth.
  • Develop tools for tracking project status and standardize them across the portfolio.
  • Introduce efficiencies and measure KPIs and other indicators to achieve department goals.
  • Establish and execute post-integration transition plans for a clean handoff to operational owners.
  • Continuously review integration processes, perform post-mortems, and recommend improvements to leadership.
  • Manage special and ad-hoc projects related to corporate development, operations, and strategic initiatives.
  • Maintain a successful track record of managing end-to-end acquisition integrations and strategic implementations, demonstrating strong organizational and process-oriented skills.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with executives, department leaders, and functional staff associated with assigned projects.

Key Deliverables and Performance Goals :

  • Deliver on assigned initiatives, bringing results and value to Astrana.
  • Continually refine toolkits and processes, standardizing them in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Align department resources with organizational value and motivate them towards common goals aligned with Astrana’s vision and strategy.
  • Positively impact the Astrana Health team and client experience with implementation projects, measured by team-member engagement, post-integration surveys, and 360-degree feedback.
  • Continuously improve integration toolkits, systems, and processes, measured by iterations of tools (project plans, RAID logs, process flows), processes (meetings, minutes, feedback gathering), and systems (knowledge management, project planning, communication).
  • Contribute to a positive work environment and culture at Astrana Health, measured by integration team-member engagement, productivity, and growth.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, healthcare, public health or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • PMP certification is desired but not required.
  • 5+ years’ experience in project management, Healthcare operations, MSO Operations or related fields leading large scale M&A projects.

RKK experience preferred.

  • Ability to independently understand, lead, drive, oversee, coordinate across all assigned project and communicate clearly on multiple initiatives simultaneously.
  • Effective leadership skills, ability to guide and motivate team.
  • Proved track record of success with the ability to successful deliver in complex environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Extensive experience with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Project Management Tools.
