NY Fed - UX Designer w2 role
- Looking for a UX Designer who would come onto product strategy team and support multiple products in a transformation phase
- This person will be helping to define new ux strategies and apply design system
- Would like someone who has worked in a UX design capacity
- Experience in financial services is highly preferred
Hybrid - 2x / week - but must be flexible to come in for workshops and willingness to come in 3x / week if needed
Possibility for travel
L2 required, but can start once L1 clears
Not looking for someone too senior - but someone in mid level of career who has experience in complex product spaces

- Key aspects of the role : Execute design from requirements gathering, to concepts, to handoff to developers for a portfolio of products
- Day-to-day Expectations : Collaborate with Product Owners, business stakeholders, and developers; build design artifacts that advance UX ideation and implementation across several products;
facilitate user research and review cycles to develop and iterate concepts; socialize design concepts including with senior stakeholders
Interview Plan / Process : 2 45min fit interviews with 2 interviewers each, a case interview for those passing fit interviews, and a 30min final interview
Required Clearances Needed : Level 2, but can start working before it's cleared
Client Markets Group mission is to implement market operations, monitor and analyze global financial market developments, execute lender of last resort operations for the Second district and collateral valuation services to Client System (FRS), provide infrastructure and financial services for foreign and international monetary authorities, and to provide capital market-related fiscal agency services to the U.S. Treasury.
The Product, Strategy & Support team is responsible for collaborating with Markets leadership to support the development of business strategy, define the strategic vision for the Market Group’s technology Products and for ensuring the portfolio of initiatives aligns with and provides value to the Group’s mission and objectives.
The team further ensures the delivery of functionality fully meets the needs of the users, the adoption and ongoing use of products and services maximizes benefit, and the requisite support activities is reliable throughout the full product lifecycle.
Your role as UX Designer :
- Adapt, contribute and maintain cross-product design principles and UX patterns leveraging the design system for delivering effective end-to-end business processes
- Execute design from requirements gathering, to concepts, to handoff to developers for a portfolio of products
- Create user flows, wireframes, visual designs, site maps, storyboards, low- and high-fidelity prototypes, and add to style guides and component libraries
- In coordination with product owner, conduct stakeholder presentations and design / prototype reviews, proposing design solutions to increase engagement, and as appropriate, conversion
- Provide UX design leadership and guidance to portfolio of product teams using shared design system patterns and drive cohesive UX implementation, including guiding UI developers in agile squads
- Enforce adherence to style standards, actively participate in all phases of the product lifecycle, including product ideation, user persona definition, user interviews, requirements gathering, cross-discipline UX design sessions, usability testing, and data analytics
- Incorporate user-interface (UI) and user-experience (UX) best-practices into design and production, including where appropriate usability testing and other user research programs to inform user-centric design
- Identify design opportunities to create consistency in established and new patterns within each workstreams, explore various concepts through prototyping and lead user testing to validate usability assumptions
- Serves as a trusted advisor to Product Owners in establishing product strategies and roadmaps
Quals
What we are looking for :
- UX design experience, financial services industry experience preferred
- An online portfolio demonstrating strong visual design experience, as well as expertise in user-centric, interactive design for web
- Track record of meaningfully contributing to, creating and / or managing impactful design systems and processes in Figma
- Experience with information architecture projects and card sorting research activities; experience organizing user facing datasets nice to have
- Experience working in an Agile delivery model
- Proven ability delivering customer-centric designs in broad and complex stakeholder landscapes
- Ability to collaborate across teams and find a way to move forward in ambiguous circumstances
- Strong executive communication skills
