About the Position

Foursquare is looking for a Security Engineer to join our team located in or near one of our office hubs - New York City, Chicago, Seattle, San Francisco.

As part of the Security Team, your work will be instrumental in safeguarding our customer and user data and will directly contribute to Foursquare’s business success.

You'll help to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities, participate in design and implementation of best practices for our applications and AWS infrastructure, and build or integrate tools to provide awareness of security-related events and controls.

In this role, you’ll

  • Build security tooling and automation to integrate security earlier in the software development lifecycle, ensuring both preventative and detective measures are in place to manage threats.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align security controls with industry-standard compliance requirements (e.g. ISO, NIST, SOC2).
  • Provide security expertise across our entire tech stack in the form of design reviews and threat modeling.
  • Respond to security events, including isolating, mitigating, and investigating active threats.
  • Establish and promote security recommendations and best practices, as well as perform research and provide security insight.

What you’ll need

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field (such as other Engineering disciplines).
  • 2+ years of experience in security engineering or DevSecOps, with a focus on AWS and infrastructure security.
  • Proficient in building tools and automation in Python, including testing, documentation, and deployment.
  • Experience with deploying in Kubernetes (EKS preferred); experience with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) is a plus.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

At Foursquare, we are committed to providing competitive pay and benefits that are in line with industry and market standards.

Actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, and specific office location.

The annual total cash compensation range is $88,000 - $147,250, however actual salaries can vary based on a candidate’s qualifications, skills and competencies, as well as location.
