Job Duties :
- Receive and fill prescription requests.
- Verify that information on written prescriptions and refill requests is complete and accurate.
- Answer phones and provide customer service.
- Maintain proper storage and security conditions for drugs.
- Count tablets, pills, and label prescription bottles.
- Measure and pour liquids into bottles and seal.
- Prepare sterile solutions.
- Receive and process prescription requests by phone or sent electronically from doctors’ offices.
- Retrieve, count, pour, weigh, measure, and sometimes mix medications to specification.
- Establish and maintain patient profiles, including lists of medications taken by individual patients.
- Refer any questions regarding prescriptions, drug information, or health matters to a pharmacist.
- Explain pricing to patients.
- Advise patients on where to locate over-the-counter medication within the store.
- Assist store customers by answering questions, locating items, or referring them to the pharmacist for medical information.
- Price and file prescriptions that have been filled.
- Order, label, and count stock of medications, chemicals, or supplies and enter inventory data into computer.
- Order prescriptions when supplies are low.
- Receive and store incoming supplies, verify quantities against invoices, check for outdated medications in current inventory, and inform supervisors of stock needs and shortages.
- Purge prescriptions that have not been picked up.
- Keep workspace and common pharmacy areas clean.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and function within the guidelines of HIPAA
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Minimum Job Qualifications :
- High School or GED education : required.
- Valid and unrestricted Pharmacy Technician certification is required in the state(s) of practice.
- Registered with the applicable Board of Pharmacy and in good standing.
- One (1) year of prior Pharmacy experience is preferred.
