The Dealer Relations Manager is primarily responsible for visiting existing auto dealerships. This role involves cultivating relationships with key members of the dealership to ensure that the client company is well-known within the dealership and that all management members are familiar with the program.
Additionally, this role aims to grow and develop the dealer base in a defined territory.
Note : This is a hybrid role involving outside sales, with 5 days per week on the road and 1 day per month in corporate offices.
Minimum Requirements :
3-5 years prior indirect sales experience.
The ideal candidate should have prior experience in the role, ideally with an existing book of business.
Centrally located around the Worcester area in Massachusetts.
Possess a hunter mentality, excel at building strong relationships, be strategic and solutions-oriented, and demonstrate strong follow-up skills with a high degree of attention to detail.
Experience in outside sales skills to establish and maintain strong relationships.
Able to drive as a major component of the job.
Working knowledge of all facets of the automotive business.
Excellent communication skills and ability to interact with all levels within the dealership.
Nice to Have :
Bachelors degree preferred but not required.
Responsibilities :
Plan dealer visits in advance to make the best use of time and ensure a maximum level of dealer contacts each day.
Actively visit 8-10 dealerships per day in a focused area.
Establish multiple levels of contact within each dealership to ensure client company recognition within the dealership up to and including the dealer principal.
Meet with key dealer staff to train and educate them on the client company program and show them where we fit in their dealership and how we can help them increase profits on a per deal basis.
Provide training on the funding process and the documents required to fund loans in a timely manner.
Participate in the creation of marketing programs and communicate these programs with key dealer staff.
Act as a liaison between the dealer staff and the client company team to help facilitate any funding or credit issues.
Identify competitive advantages the client company has over the competition and share any competitive threats with management to be assessed and corrected when possible.
Increase market penetration in a defined territory by increasing volume from existing dealers and identifying and signing up new dealer relationships.
Participate in weekly and monthly sales meetings, sharing what is happening within the assigned territory.
Provide management with a recap of daily activities through CRM (Landslide). Provide daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
Awareness of competitor programs and how to sell against them.
Attend trade shows as needed.
Other duties as assigned by management.
