Job Details
- Effective 11 / 30 / 24, IU Health will not allow IN RN’s to work at their facilities (SEE EXCEPTIONS BELOW). The last day for IN RNs to start a NEW contract is 9 / 9 (allows them to finish a contract by 11 / 30).
- Periop / OR RN’s, Allied and Ambulatory RN travelers are exempt from this rule. These IN travelers are allowed to work past the 11 / 30 deadline.
Periop includes ENDO, IR RN, PACU, Cath Lab RN, SDS
- IU Health is now offering charge pay, which is a $3.00 bill rate bump per hour
- MUST BE FLEXIBLE WITH WEEKEND REQUIREMENTS, WEEKEND REQUIREMENT WILL BE BASED ON UNIT NEEDS. TRAVELERS MUST BE ABLE TO WORK 50% OF THE WEEKENDS IN THEIR CONTRACT.
- IU Health University and Methodist are teaching facilities and require all travel nurses to agree to the possibility of precepting and / or being assigned students to shadow them while on assignment.

- First Time Travelers Accepted
- Shift Requirements : 4x12 or 3x12
- Call-Ins : If a traveler call-ins for a contracted shift, the traveler is expected to 1) make up the day during the pay period, if a 0.
9 FTE. OR 2) if a 0.9 FTE and unable to make up during the pay period, then the shift will be added at the end of the traveler contract 3) If a 1.
2 FTE, any call-in shifts will be added to the end of the contract
- Charge coverage : Pending operational needs, unit charge nurse responsibilities may be needed with provided training and resources.
- Skillset Requirements : Minimum 2 Year Required, Telemetry, Proficient Neuro Experience, and Management of Drips
- Skillset Preferences : Conscious Sedation and Level 1 Trauma Experience
- Floating Requirements : Unit travelers may be expected to float to different levels of care (Med-Surg, PCU, ICU) with resources provided if needed at both University and Methodist Hospitals
- Staffing Ratios : 1 : 3-4 (Will Rarely See 5 During Emergencies)
- Unit Information : CVAs, Hydrocephalus, brain tumors and resections, seizures, and TBIs; shooting, stabbings, MVCs, people falling over rugs etc.
GI surgeries and large wound cleaning and closures.
